Its a carb issue but more than likely the internal passages are gummed up. Its probably because you have been using ethanol blended gas. The alcohol wreaks havoc with small engine carbs they were never designed to run this type of fuel. You can try to rebuild it but I have found it only works about 10% of the time. Save yourself a bunch of headaches and purchase a new one. Try to buy non-ethanol fuel or at add a fuel system cleaner everytime to fill up. The cleaner will extend the life but ultimately the new one will plug up.

Hi, Pat, your title and registration prove what year your motorcycle is, the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee of $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available and some were never printed in English. The Indian and Philippine markets are usually in E-book format only, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download.

If you bypass the Capacitor Discharge Ignition, how do you reckon it will work without any ignition/spark etc.

Yamaha... | Answered on May 28, 2019

Easy and cheap way to increase your speed without messing with the motor, gas, air or spark is to change the sprockets and chain set up on your final drive. Go to gearingcommander.com for all the specs and information on how it will effect your engine and what is best for your year model bike. Ride safe and ride free

Possibly restricted exhaust or valve worn or piston rings worn take out spark plug hold gently but firmly against the plug hole turn over engine Holding the plug obviously not with spark plug cover on !! It should at least push the spark plug away from the hole with a pop pop pop sound if so hopefully that rules out valves if it's not burning oil then it probably not rings could be timing off or valve seals most engine with leak will run full revs under no load ps also check plug gap :-)

Yamaha... | Answered on May 20, 2019

Bruce,

Most problems as you describe are due to the connections on the battery or starter being loose, corroded or dirty. Clean your connectors ( the big wire ones) at your battery, starter relay, starter, and ground (just follow the big wires from your battery terminals) and I'm sure you will find one or more connections along the way that are corroded or loose. Make sure the connections are tight, clean and free from corrosion and your timberwolf will crank over just fine.
