How should I properly cold start a 2003 HD
Ok, as a general rule, I only run the enricher for as long as I need until I can keep the engine running with the throttle. If you run the engine too long with the enricher, you'll foul the plugs. The enricher is VERY rich.
Your bike is jetted correctly. There is one other thing you could do and that is to take the slide out of the carb. Then remove the needle. Put a 3mm flat washer on the needle from the bottom (long) side. Put it back together. What you are doing is raising the needle by the thickness of the washer, about 0.020". This will richen up the mid-range mixture just a bit. It seems to help.
Now, you don't want your engine to heat up too quickly. If it does, the mixture is too lean and a lean mixture is fine for a water cooled engine but death on an air cooled engine. I usually run my engine until I feel the rocker boxes getting warm. You also don't want to take off and run your engine hard when it's cold. You stand a good chance of blowing a head gasket. As the engine warms up, the cylinder and the heads "grow" due to the heat building up. When the engine is cold, the cylinder and the heads have the least amount of torque on them making blowing a head gasket or a base gasket more likely if you run the engine hard. Be patient and let your engine warm like it should.

How do i remove the battery from my 1996
Take the rear seat off ( one screw at the rear of the seat ) the screws holding the drivers seat. It may not have two seats depending on the model. with the seat off the battery is in the middle of the oil tank and has one crossbar holding it down with a screw in one end. lift up ( after the screw is out) and it'll unhook. Remove the negative battery cable first and put it on last as you put the cables on the new battery.. put everything back and tighten good as these bikes shake alot and nothing should be loose. if the battery doesn't fit tightly ( wrong one ) It'll be shaken to death quickly and the new battery will fail. A small piece of wood may be made to shore up any looseness, wood isn't attacked by batteries. ( the orginal batteries were made of wood in the oldest days of batteries.) Good and tight and your good to go make sure that you put the battery cables in such a way as to not let them rub on anything as they'll wear though later and you'll have a major problem ( get the right battery ) Everybody and their brother will try to sell you the wrong one and say it'll work ( not in the long run ) get one that fits and the terminals are on the correct ends they make the batteries both ways and a whole lot that look like their it but theyre wrong.
Loud Vance and Hines long shots
Depending on the pipes you purchased, they will be stamped as to whether or not they meet noise requirements. Many if not most aftermarket pipes do not. Sorry.
Question about Vance and Hines quiet baffles
about 3-5db but you must remember db is not a linear scale but logirythmic.
basicallyy the baffles will remove the harsh rasp off the pipe and make them deep in sound, when cold they will be as loud as normal but once they have some heat in them they quieten down
Temp sensor
temp sensor is behind horn. replace with stock one
I have a 2006 sportster
You may have to have it readjusted or re jetted if you change the amount of back pressure the engine gets from the exhaust. You will know right away if you get it started. It will act doggy and possibly foul the plugs.
Brake light works but my
1. Are all your blinkers out (front and back)?
2. did you replace the old ones with LED?
3. 5150 kicker im assuming is probably a build bike, with maybe an S&S Evo engine?
4. Is you speedo/dash still operating correctly?
Heres what im thinkin,
Check for blown fuses.
Check the wiring between you blinkers and taillight, usually it runs on the same harness with the connector somewhere under your seat.
If it is a build bike, im assuming its carburated and does not have an ECM, which then it would run on a flasher relay.
If it is hooked up to say a TSM, then you may need a load equilizer.
I would also check the wiring from your switches, and check the switches as well.
