I have a 99 X1 #170/250 it does same thing when its cold. I put the buell race module still does it took it in and had motor turn apart and found nothing bike runs great when its warm you need to let it warm up it should start to fire

I think the 2000 x1 was fuel injected. You might have bad gas, a weak fuel pump, a plugged up air filter, any number of things. is there a check engine light on?

Fuel pump is finiteo.

There isn't any.

Could be a bad connection somewhere or you might have a gastank with some water in it. I woul personlally flush out the gastank if it hasn't been done I a few years anyway. Then start looking at the wiring while the tank is off.

Harley sells all of those still - go to the parts counter and order it.

The kill switch is designed to shut the motor off. flip it back to the ON or RUN position and start the bike again.

Check your fuel pressure - If the pump isn't pushing good and steady and holding pressure it needs to be replaced.
