How to....remove radio sepakers (rear) from a Toyota Echo??
It's really easy to remove the rear speakers. First, get in the trunk and find the 3 white anchors for the rear deck-they're near the rods for the trunk mechanism. Push them through the metal frame to free the deck. Next, you have to get in the back seat and remove the stop light from the deck. To do this, push in the pins on the locking mechanisms on either side of the light to free the back casing. Pull the pins out and the casing off. Next, undo the two bolts holding the stop light in place and pull it off-don't forget to undo the wiring harness. Next, find the three anchoring points for the back seat. Gently lift the two side ones free of their anchors. This gives you access underneath the deck. Free the deck and gently lift it over the seat. You'll have to jimmy it a little to get the locking clamps free--they're all along the back of the deck. Pull it free and you have access to the speakers. I believe the factory speakers are 5 1/4 inches
Try to use Toyota speaker adapter plugs so you don't need to cut wires and mess the electric system up. You can get them from Ebay or Amazon.
cheers
My 2002 Toyota Echo has an electrical short
To check if there is a heavy drain on the battery, remove the battery terminal anyone ..positive or negative, thn try to fit it back to the battery and as you are doing so check if there is a heavy sparks as the terminal touches the battery, if there is a heavy spark means there is a strong drain somewhere but if there is a weak spark , its normal due to the car clock, and the music system too.
The first place to look for battery drain would be the alarm system if one is fitted in your car.
The other way is tideous one ..is to remove all the fuses iin the fuse box and the relays and thn refitting them one by one noting which one will throw heavy sparks fuse side and the relay side you will note a clicking sound from it...you thn follow the fuse box decal as to what gadget or compenant its fitted too and follow it.
Hope this helps!
02 Toyota echo engine revs up brakes harden fail to engage idling at 40 mph
seems , but can not understand that post lacking periods.
the booster is cracked and sucking vaccum to the engine
..
the brake poster is vacuum powered
but must not leak if does leak the causes and illegall air flow
to the engine main air supply and causes engines to race fast RPM at idle.
now you know why.
even the hose to it can be bad or fell off.
but i bet the booster diaphragm inside is cracked.
the service manual shows the leak down test on boosters all do
.and if it leaks it is bad.
end story.
Toyota echo steering is very stiff
Look at the amount of power steering fluid in your power steering pump.
If it is low, then add until a normal level.
If you don't know how to check or add fluid correctly get help in doing so.
If this does not help, then have the Power Steering Pump Tested by a mechanic.

What is wrong with my Toyota Echo 2003 Automatic 1.3L?
I would suspect the alternator. A low voltage will cause this with some electronic instrument clusters. Get a voltmeter and check to see that the voltage on the battery when the car is running is higher than when the car is not running. A good battery may indicate around 13 volts when fully charged, but while running an alternator will run higher voltage often greater than 14 volts. Be sure to bring the idle up while testing for running conditions.
I need the correct position of the tensioner of my Toyota Echo 2000
