First check fluid is full by starting the engine have it blocked put in in nutral( to fill the bell houseing ) then check fluid level, more than likely you need to add fluid exspecally if your checking it in park with engine on or off park gives you a false reading on the dip stick

My 2003 Jeep grand cherokee will not move in reverse. I can hear and feel it switch into reverse but the vehicle doesn't move.

I'm gonna try this one from memory( but you should really should use the repair manual)Sounds like the output shaft ,ideler gear or reverse gear is worn. This repair is gonna involve a tranny tear down. I suggest you have it serviced by an ASE Certified Transmission Technician. They will get it right the first time.

1998 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS

Check the condition of the tranny oil on the dipstick. If it's black and smelly, the tranny clutches might be worn out. Make sure you have enough fluid in there first. Check the fluid with the car engine running and the tranny in park. The level should be between the 2 marks.

98 Grand Cherokee shifter wont stay in place (moves freely)

Give the shifter a good hard hit on the top. Sometimes it pops out of place.
