1986 Mazda 323 automatic - My Mazda's engine cuts out when idle e.g. stopped at a set of traffic lights. I remember this happened about 2 years ago and the mechanic knew straight away what was wrong with it. It was only a small part that sat in the car somewhere and it sparked. All spark plugs, oil filer, fuel filter have been replaced. I am not very mechanically minded. Please help.

sound like timing problems. check timing belt or needs changing.

check timing belt timing on the cam gear and crank gear. if timing belt has 60000 miles or more. if they dont break first. they stretch enough jump out of time.

if it trys to turn over spray starter fluid to the carb. it might start then
