1988 Honda Accord lxi has issues starting. Ignition, engine, starter, and most everything seems okay. Have not checked o2 sensors and getting new plugs after cleaning old ones and reinstalling them. They have almost had it. The worst enemy seems to be the midday heat. At night or in the morning, the car usually cranks with not much of a problem. It runs well. I have done just about every ignition position and tap on gas pedal/not gas pedal tapping. Many different combinations of scenarios when starting have been used and I cannot specifically determine that any of them are more effective than another to use as a constant, reliable method of approach. I have a new fuel pump, 2 new fuel filters, a new exhaust system. Since this problem began a few weeks ago, my alternator seems to have quit, but sometimes works again randomly as the battery light in the dash will go off, sometimes only when I press the accelerator.

1992 Honda Accord. No spark?

Check the battery voltage static and when the key is being turned. It should be 12.8 to 13.2 volts.

You have changed everything that is responsible for a 'no spark' issue. Does it have and anti-theft system, and solid red light on the dash?

92 Accord will not restart immediately after being turned off

Sounds like your starter needs to come off. When it does'nt start try tapping on it with a hammer,if it does turn over then you need to get the starter rebuilt.Check you battery posts for corrosion and check the ground cable where it bolts to the block,if the tapping madfe no differance

1988 honda accord lxi- will start if I spray starting fluid into the throttle body. will not start in hot weather

Clogged fuel injectors. Or, starting fluid is basically high octane fuel which doesnt require efficient or hot spark plugs to start, so maybe you need to look at your ignition system, especially your spark plugs, wires, or cup rotors -- perhaps they are not delivering a hot enough spark for regular fuel. While at it, also check the ignition timing. In other words, clean your injectors and get a tune up. Finally, make sure the throttle body is not leaking air.

1988 Honda Accord, 68,000 miles. Have replaced plugs twice and car continues to idle very low. Car has no get-up-and-go, and does not seem to change gears like it used to. HELP!!

first, the shifting - get a new filter and fluid put in the transmission. Put a high end synthetic fluid like royal purple. this will fix that part if your transmission is still working.

now the engine - lets start out with the basics. Distributor Cap and rotor. Plug wires, O2 sensor. remove the throtle body and clean it up with a lint free towel and carb cleaner.

now more complicated stuff, if the above does not fix then we need to start looking at things like the timing chain, and the timing also. get the injectors checked. Also lets look into the head, does it have the proper compression from each plug whole.

Let me know

Won't start @ times.

Sounds like an ignition module problem. Not to hard to change, they are inside the distributor2d5b6c4.jpg.
