Check for fuel and spark. Pull of the fuel supply line, stick it into an empty water bottle (to catch fuel) and put a rag underneath. Have someone crank.
Remove spark plug plug, insert a plug (remove from engine or use a spare). put plug so it contacts engine metal (for example cylinder head). Have someone crank and look for spark.

First make sure the fuel pump working you can hear littil sound when you S.W on from rear seat inside for few second > if no sound replace fuel pump with fuel filter. or you can try ( remove rear seat and littile hammer by hand. . some cases you have to check spark or stuck fuel filter.

99 passat 1.8 turbo turns over no start new battery timing belt was done 8 mths ago all fuses good tried another ecm ????

I wnet out of gas on my VW Beetle 2001 last saturday. When I added gas to the tank, the car wouldn't start and the EPC light went on and I haven't been able to get it to start ever since. Would the EPC light have anything to do with the gas pump or anything related to running out of gas?

Car wont run below half a tank

If it has a timing belt, that is your problem

The exhaust converter & all the oxygen
sensors will have to be replaced as they
fired from the heat of a timing or misfire
issue

Check fuel pressure also after you resolve

Engine cranks but wont start, will fire with starting fluid, fuel pump is turning on

1) you need to check if there is enough gas in the tank
2) check for spark in the sparkplugs
3) make sure the gas is clean and has no water in it

73 beetle ran out of gas now wont start

Could be the float is stuck. try spraying a little starting fluid in the carb and crank it over and see if it trys to run.

I try to jump start my 2001 vw beetle but it just keeps turning over and won't start. the last time it did it was bogging and died. ever since it just turns over but wont start.

sounds like your battery may be bad. take it to autozone to have it charged and tested for hold-charge. takes about an hour or so. and its free.

Battery wont stay charged, alternator problem?

I suggest that you take the car to an autoparts store and have them check the alternator output. That will tell whether the alternator is putting out sufficient voltage to keep the battery charged or not. Most parts stores will check the alternator for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Battery is good, wont turn over

Need to make sure fuel in tank is still good. Did you try draining the tank putting in fresh fuel try a little starting fluid also make sure its getting fire.

2001 VW Beetle Will not start

Hi.
Check the heavy duty cables from the battery to the starter motor and solenoid and also the battery earthing (grounding?) - there terminals could be corroded / burned.

Hope this helps you a bit. If it does, a "Fixya" rating would be much appreciated. If it doesn't
help you, I'd be grateful if you didn't bother with a rating at all. Just come back and tell me what you found. Cheers, D
