The starter would'nt work but, would if tapped with something. So I replaced the starter... Now it starts most of the time except the heater fan and the electric windows won't work when the engine is running with the key in the run position. The inside electric only works if you remove the key and re insert it into the switch then turned to the second position. I would appreciate your assistance. thanks, Nick
Hi there. It sounds like the car has a short between the II and I position. Something like the ACC and START positions in domestic and imports. And it all happened when replacing the starter. These wires are touching chassis, or ground. Try removing and emplace it again, making sure the wires are not touching GND. If problem persists, then the problem might be in the switch, ergo, requiring further inspection of the electrical system, including the wiring. Also check the fuses and make sure they are not blown. If replaced and still blowing, is a critical shortage, and the risk of an electrical fire will become imminent. Let me know how things go. Good luck.

Quite simply, you won't be able to start the car. All the starter does is turn the engine over until the cylinders fire. If the starter goes, you'd have to either jump start the car (if it's a manual transmission) or get a new starter.
well i'm not an expert at all.. but with my vast experience of having many car troubles my diagnosis would be your fuel pump..if it isnt that its something else involving your fuel line.
i have a 2002 BMW 325I
I tryed to change the remote control battery.. now the car does not start... HOw can I turn off the anti theft system... or what can I do to start the car
the "click" sounds like the solenoid on the starter motor is engaging but that the starter is not turning. So either the starter motor has failed or the charge in the battery is too low. Try a "jump" start....if makes no difference, check starter connections....if they all okay.....new starter time
if it does not do anything and the lights dont turn on then its either loose battery cables or dead battery but if the lights turn on and you here a clicking noise then your starter went bad and 3/4 the time its usually the starter
