1997 Plymouth Voyager, 3.0L engine, front wheel drive, 3 speed w/ OD, 167k miles (trans rebuilt at 132k). Trans shudders in OD. Shudder more noticable at lower speeds (40-50 mph). Problem disapears with no/little throttle, reappears with added throttle. Changed trans fluid and filter w/ no positive results - actually seems the shudder is worse although shifting 1-3 is smoother. Also has dropped out of cruise control twice - related or just a coincidence?

SOURCE: steering wheel wobbles while driving

its most likely the tires out of balance. With car problems its always best to try the most common and cheapest solutions first and that would be having it rebalanced.

SOURCE: 1999 Grand Voyager transmission not shifting into high gear

Do yourself a favor & get it scanned at transmission shop, or dealer & fixed as needed,(within reason) . Delaying it could cost lots of money. A rebuilt is about $1500-$2000.

SOURCE: at freeway speeds if i hit a bump the front end

It could be because of worn out ball joints, or steering arm bushings. When ball joints wear out, they tend to rest against one end on even pavement, but as soon as you take the load off, such as in a bump, they go "crazy" and start banging against the stops until you reduce speed. If this has been going on for a while, there should be telltale signs on the wear pattern of the front tires. If you take the vehicle to a front end alignment place, they will tell you which parts have excessive play that should be replaced before aligning the front end.

2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport extreme shudder at 40 mph- if I press the gas-pedal and get the RPMs to rev, the shudder ceases, only to return once I am back down around 38 mph-41mph.

which engine the 3.6? v6?
that shudder is called MISFIRE.
get a tune up yet, even $1.49 spark plugs?
no its not the trans,
if it dont slip, its not trans, (see RPM races? that is slip or too low gear)
if it shifting to the right gears, its not the trans can you count them?
is the CEL lamp glowing or flashing driving, is yes, that means
scan me now. in fact scanning while it shudders, is like (magic)
why start guessing, do a tuneup,
then scan it.
if its is misfire the PCM will tell you what cylinder misfires.

are your spark plugs 6 years old, if yes, why?
going for 200k miles on them.?

My chrysler 300c on a recent trip to toronto is shuddering, vibration when going over hills on cruise at 60 + mph On a flat service at lower speeds also. less than 50,000 miles on this 2005

if its only a shudder your concerned with i would do a trans service or flush with your dealer approved chrysler atf. new fluid and or a lubeguard additive with the new fluid should get rid of shudder.. fluid in your trans now could be worn out / lost some of it properties ... good luck

Transmission shudder on 1997 Mercury Gran Marquis

When you get a shutter- drag the brake pedal lightly-
that will turn off the torque converter clutch if the solenoid
is working

The rpm should go up with any brake pedal application-
if the converter is releasing

If you determine the torque converter clutch is bad & the
shutter, then the trans has to come out

Check engine & trans mounts also for wear

1996 Ford Thunderbird LX V8 Automatic Transmission shudder

Check rear emergency brakes if you have 4 wheel discs. When soot and brake lining fall to bottom of assembly they jam and shudder until wheels start rolling fast enough to scatter debris.

Also if posi equipped there is a needed rear-end additive to help clutch plates work. Perhaps clean rear-end lube and additive is needed.

2000 Silverado torque converter shudder. Issue surfaced after trans broke and was replaced. Trans replaced, torque converter shudders between 40 and 50 when applying throttle but not enough to down shift....

I would have the wheel hubs/bearings checked for noise, resistance, or wear. This part is notorious for creating a shudder and all 4 wheels have them. If the shudder comes from the front it is probably just a bad hub. I have also had worn bushings cause this problem, but it's usually a combination of the bad hub and worn bushing.

Where is the over drive transfer unit located on a 1997 plymoth grand voyager?

The overdrive is an internal component of the trans axle. This is not a bolt on assembly, and if you are having od trouble, you must seek out a qualified trans technician. If however, you have an all wheel drive version of this vehicle, and are looking for the transfer case, it's located just aft of the engine, about in the middle of the vehicle. this is replaceable by a duyer but not repairable by other than a qualified tech.

1997 dodge ram 3500, it shudders in OD

Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder.
