How to change a 2003 chevy trailblazer speedometer cluster?

There is no dedicated fuse for speedometer only. There is voltage and ground for the instrument cluster.
The vehicle speed sensor sends a signal to pcm concerning speed then the pcm sends signal to instrument cluster for speedometer.

my speedometer is tacked at 120 on my 2005 Chevy trailblazer but everything else works on the cluster. 2 places I went said I need a whole new cluster and its gonna cost 400 bucks can I do something eles?

Hello: The cluster failure on 2003 thru 2005 is very high. The proper way to repair is to replace the cluster, then mileage and engine hours(if equipped) has to be reset Then the cluster has to be programmed. I have a 2003 Silverado w/17000 miles that my wife bought for me new and it has had 5 clusters. (I' a retired GM cadillac technician)

This is a very common problem with 03-06 Trailblazer instrument clusters and it is repairable without having to replace the entire cluster.

For the stalling issue, the throttle body needs to be cleaned, grime in this area prevents the throttle plate from closing completely and allowing air to enter, making the air/fuel mixture lean.
The dead speedometer could be a bad stepper motor in the instrument cluster or a bad speed sensor on the transmission. If the cruise control is not working, the problem is most likely the speed sensor.

chevy refuses to recall this speedometer. The same part is in several other models and they were recalled. The stepper motor in the gauge cluster is faulty. The dealership will charge around $700 to replace it. I reported it to the gov't agency that handles recalls and chevy in detroit. No results.

Call your local dearship with your vin, and ask if the special policy for the IPC (cluster) appies to your truck. Some of these have a special policy which would mean that you could have it fixed at the dealer for very cheap. Otherwise you will need to have the cluster sent out and it will need to be repaired, it's not very cheap either, and it will need to be programed at the dealership also after it's replaced.
