Main Relay Malfunction. This one could be tricky. Could be as simple as that main relay is bad. If it was it could cause an intermittent no start. It is located in your ECM box at the base of your windshield. I don't remember off the top of my head WHICH one in there it is. And there are 3 or 4 sometimes. So you will have to figure out which one. Take it out. There is a diagram on it. Test it according to the relay diagram. If it works then it might be something different. I have seen a lot of other problems (bad ground, bad battery, ignition switch, and more) cause that relay fault. So it can be tricky.

08 XC90 cranks but won't start. After several hours it starts right up. Towed to dealer twice, started ok numerous times with no codes. Can't trust it. 3.2 6 cyl.

check the engine oil level sensor and the oil pressure sensor. this can sometimes be the problem. if the ecu does not read oil or pressure it wont start, and there is no codes. just oil light wont go out on turning engine over.(that's for oil level) oil pressure the engine on turnover pushes the oil up to the sensore when ecu reads pressure from the sensor it turns on the rest of the ignition circuit and engine will start.

Ecu box passat

ecm goes bad it will go in limp mode, vechicle will run poorly check engine light will stay on vechicle wont start.you need to use a code scanner check for ecm fault code, if check engine light not turning on when you start vechicle could have blowed ecm fuse or wiring problem, could have loose connection at ecm electrical connector or ecm getting poor ground but first check for a defective ecm using a code scanner.

What is code p1517 on my 2008 tdi passat

Hi there,

Code P1517 is specific to VW (P0 = generic code), so this code must be retrieved specifically from VW's DTC list.

This code relates to a malfunction in your Engine (MAIN) Control Relay circuit

Please note that I said "Circuit". This doesn't neccessarily mean the Control Relay itself is faulty (although this component will also need to be tested), but means you may need to test every component related to this circuit, and also other related circuts.

Cheers,

2000 hyundai elantra car cranks but wont turn over just started fine 3 days ago

Did you scan for any trouble codes? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps fix the problem.

My hyndai santafe wont turn over

Which one is it?... Elantra?... or Santa Fe? In either case, the problem could be fuel pressure (fuel pump), then again, it might be crank sensor, coolant temp snsr, Intake Air Temp snsr.
