head gasket blown, or cracked head.

coolant is making its way to the piston and combusting with the gas.

1 or both routes are the only possible way.

running rich?. make sure your air cleaner is clean the filter is clean. how old are plugs, wires, cap, rotor, o2 sensors? also you feul injectors could be leaking extra feul into the engine. run the engine with the air cleaner off. let it warm up. shut off. look at the injectors with a light to see if they are leaking. does it burn alittle on whenb you first start it?

most likely the knock is a valve lifter, could be caused by a few things but lets start with trying to add some seafome to the engine oil and see if the knock goes away in a day or so,if it does change the oil and continue with the seefome with each oil change, if the knock does not go away then things get a little more complicated, the first thing would be to get an oil pressure reading at the oil pump. if low or no pressure then you will need to at the least replace the oil pump at the worst replace the engine, i think the smoke is only at start up? if it is then it is valve seals, and the seafome will also help with this. if the engine has good oil pressure then you will most likely have to replace the valve lifters.....

let me know if there is any thing else i can do for you.

If the check engine light is not on, I would check the fuel pressure regulator and for problems with the fuel return line.
If you have a leaking injector you should get a check engine light and code for a cylinder miss.

that should have throttle body fuel injection run the engine with the air filter off and watch the injectors spray fuel to see if there a cone shaped spray if ok check the fuel pressure i have seen the regulator rupsure and the fuel dumps into the engine

Blowing white smoke out of exhaust pipe

White smoke is usually a sign for a bad head gasket. How much white smoke is coming out? Also, are you losing coolant and can't find a drip under the engine?

I have a 91 acura legend and when i drive thick white smoke comes out of the pipes and from under my passenger back door what can this be? it also smells like anti-freeze

that is because it is antifreeze. you have a failed gasket or cracked block and the antifreeze is getting into the combustion chambers and then puffed out the exhaust. this is very bad and needs a fix immediately.

White smoke is coming for rear exhaust pipe after start up and sometime after acceleration

White smoke is usually the sign of a blown headgasket.. I would have the coolant system pressure tested before any serious damage is done.

My car started smelling funny...pulled over lifted hood and it was steaming...white smoke came from under hood and tail pipe, car would not start again. Some say it may be a head gasket? How would I know?

You can tell by looking at dip stick if the oil has a creamy white substance there is antifreeze getting in oil (blown head gasket) or if ther is excessive white smoke coming from exhaust pipe upon acceleration. steam from under hood may be a coolant leak from a rubber hose or it may be leaking from the cylinder head onto the exhaust manifold also the car will be using up antifreeze.

Black smoke coming out of exhaust, only on immediate acceleration. Leaves black spots on ground under exhaust pipe.

Your engine is running "too rich" meaning more gas is going into the chamber than is supposed to. If it is a late model, to need to see your mechanic. FYI , blue smoke is oil, black too much gas, white, antifreeze, (really bad).

Smoke from the exhaust while accelerating, shaking, check engine light flashing, stalls while accelerating

If the smoke is white and sweet smell it is the head gasket. If it is black and smell like oil it is more than likely the mount is bad.. a bad piston,
