Air conditioning calls for freon, you can install freon in your air conditioner, if you know how, or you can go to a auto part store and ask them, and tell them what kind of vehicle that you have, and purchase the freon kit to refill your sytem, you will have to install the freon on the low side of the air compressor fitting. also you stated can i put in antifreeze yourself, yes you can, just pour antifreeze into your radiator or radiator coolant bottle, but antifreeze is not used for air conditioning as refilling the air conditioning system.

Antifreeze is only for the radiator, does not affect the air conditioner, make sure you have the setting on cold, if it is still hot than take it to your local air conditioner re gas station, most auto electricians do it, dealerships usually send them out which you end up paying extra for!!! You just need a re gas in your air conditioner.

When I turn on the air conditioner it is blowing hot air as if the heater were on. Could it be a fuse? It was working fine yesterday.

heater core is going bad my dodge ram truck did the same thing for about three months then steam startedcoming out of the vents it was antifreeze i have not fixed it yet i just bypassed it for now cause its hot and i have to take the dash completly out to get to it, and yes my airconditioner was blowing out hot now immediatly after i bypassed it blows cold again.you have to find where it goes into the motor on both sides so follow the hoses from firewall then buy a 3ft hose to go from one side of motor to the other problem fixed! well that is you wont have a heater until you change the heater core

2005 KA blowing hot air out when set to cold

start car.turn on air conditioner high cool .raise hood look to see if the compressor clutch is engaged and running.if yes your ac air door could be stuck closed or the air door vacuum actutator not receiving vacuum.a vacuum line is broken or off. or the control switch bad.that control the AC and heater mode. if compressor clutch is not engagged.check for power at compressor clutch.if yes compressor clutch coil open. or the air conditioner refrigerant R 134 is low take car to a private garage with a good reputation. they wont be expensive as the dealership.have them hook car air conditioner to a manifold gauge set to check your refrigerant low side and high side pressure.
