To remove the gas tank on this vehicle, first step is to undo the ground ******** the filler neck and also remove the three bolts that hold the gas tank filler neck to the box, 2 you will have to support the tank with a jack or something that will allow you to bring the tank down. 3 undo the gas tank straps so that the tank can be lowered then disconnect the connections to the fuel pump sending unit. once these steps are completed then you can drop the tank and perform what ever service you need to do.

Fuel filter location?

most are in the gas tank.

Easy job if you have a floor jack, 2 floor stands and wrench.
Empty the gas tank, place jack centered on the gas tank jack up the car, put the floor stands in place to hold the car steady, disconnect the wiring go to the gas tank then remove the bolts (most cars only have 2 holding the tank braces, slowly lower the floor jack with the tank on it, remove the fuel pump slowly and carefully as not to have anything fall in the tank.

How to drain gas tank on 1984 ford ltd crown victoria to remove the old gas?

If the old gas is bad you should remove the tank, dump the gas, and clean the inside of the tank. You may have to siphon the gas to get to the point where you can manage the tank to remove it.
