Try looking underneath to see if you have possibly kinked or flattened a fuel line, if as you say, the fuel pump is running. Otherwise you may have jolted one of the injector sensors in the system.

My 89 ramcharger quit running. after I changed the fuel pump it ran for 1 day, now wont start again, can the relay be bypassed to get it into my shop till the part is available?

Click on the link.
I don't know engine size. Several systems get voltage from asd relay, including your fuel pump, if my diagram is correct. Even if you jump the load side of asd relay, I doubt it will run, depending on the problem? The load side of relay, is that line with arrowhead. Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? Can you check for applicable trouble codes? To check codes, cycle your key, on--off, on--off--on then the check engine lamp goes to flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes.

Why do i have to bypass my fuel pump relay

I look at the relay as two different circuits, the load side of relay is that line with arrowhead, when relay is energized that line moves to other terminal, you can see voltage to load side of relay comes from fusible link. That circuit goes through inertia switch, then to the pump. Then you have the control side of relay, left side in the diagram, that side has to have voltage and ground, voltage comes from eec power relay and that circuit is grounded by the pcm.

Wont start

The fuel pump jump started? The fuel pump relay is in the dashboard relay center. The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. The pumps do fail entirely nd the fuel pump should make some sound if it's running. The fuel filter is on the firewall on the drivers side. It has a bleeder screw in the top of the bnjo bolt that holds the fuel line onto the filter. Loosening this bolt should release fuel pressure. With the bolt loose try to get the pump running ( knock on the relay, fuel tank, while cranking the engine) if fuel flows the engine should run if you don't have other problems. Low battery will crank the engine but not turn on the fuel pump and or the injection system and even the ingtion system. It may still crank and sound OK. Voltmeter the battery with the engine cranking, Less that 10 volts it's unlikly to start. John

1998 gmc 2500 sle 5.7 wont stay running

Theres only one fuel pump relay, unless you have dual tanks. Be sure you have 55-60 psi fuel pressure. I "think" the oil pressure switch supplies power to the fuel pump after the engine is running.

Fuel pump may be getting weak. If pressure is not high enough the injectors wont open.

Engine cranks but won't start

I firstly would check relay. You can use an ohmmeter to check the resistance of the relay. If you get a reading, it is good, If not it is bad. Than disconnect fuel pump wire harness and do the same.

My fuel gauge was not working so my son ran a jump wire for the ground at the fuel pump and now the truck wont start i am afraid he may have shorted something is there a fuse for the fuel pump or a relay...

YES THERE IS A FUEL PUMP FUSE IN THE FUSE PANEL. I THINK HE MAY HAVE JUMPED A HOT WIRE AND GROUNDED IT INSTEAD OF A GROUND WIRE. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK.
