The problem is your fuel level sensor. You can get this separate from the fuel pump. You don`t have to replace the complete pump assembly. If this is a gas engine then this is the only pump.Let me know what motor you have and I can find.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Chevrolets are notorious, as well as 1995 and older jeep wranglers for the sending units in the tank going bad as i have a 2001 chevy 2500 truck now with a bad sending unit. some parts stores can get the sending unit by itself but its usually pretty hard to find and ends up costing as much if not more than just buying the complete fuel pump assembly. hope this helps

1996goldwing trike tail lights fuel gauge temp gauge not working all other lights work

If the tail lights, low fuel light, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge are not working, there could be several possible causes:
  1. Blown Fuses: Check the fuses for the tail lights, low fuel light, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. If any of these fuses are blown, replace them with a new one.
  2. Loose or damaged wiring: Inspect the wiring for the tail lights, low fuel light, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. Look for any loose connections or damaged wires. Repair or replace any damaged wires and ensure all connections are tight.
  3. Faulty sending units: The low fuel light and fuel gauge are connected to the fuel sending unit in the gas tank. The temperature gauge is connected to a temperature sending unit on the engine. Check these sending units for faults, and replace them if necessary.
  4. Faulty instrument cluster: The instrument cluster itself could be faulty, causing the temperature and fuel gauges to not work. A qualified mechanic can test the instrument cluster to see if this is the issue.
It's also possible that the trike has a separate electrical system for the tail lights, and that this system is malfunctioning. A qualified mechanic can test the trike's electrical system to determine the cause of the issue.

01 Jeep grand Cherokee I have crank but no start no gauges no power at fuel pump. All fuses good under dash & hood . Turn key to on, 1st warning light low fuel. 2nd key w/ line 3rd check engine help

you used voltmeter at the pump?> or just didnt here it run
do say this...please. details, matter....
it told you low fuel is it? is the fuel gauge near "E"
why not state that first.?
dead gauges, be 1st right, smacks of gross power loss.
right>? not clear to me what no gauges means.
but the voltmeter is #1 no?

did you tests fuse that look ok. fuse that look ok can be bad.
no gauges, means all dead, no movement,
well the fuel gauge must work , does it, does it match reality?
cranks but never runs. good input there.

does not run for the jeep 3 seconds.? (ASD rules)
no 12vdc power to pump, when cranking,?
01 grand WJ jeep usa.
is the skim lamp off, the cluster lamp for SKIM security is first.
it must go out after key turn on, or it will never run, ever.
I can help.
WJ jeep
this jeep has a voltage gauge, it must read 12v keyon
if not power is lost, or battery low.
if cranks that tells me the fues blew.
skim cuts spark and fuel, not cranking btw.
2002 cluster
http://jeepdied.com/cluster2002GC.JPG
see that lamp 12, if stuck on car will never start but will crank.
the lamp falses if skim is not working or stays on for ******* key.
we SCAN ALL CARS NOW.
IF You can not scan a modern jeep then it can near impossible to diagnose (a hard cold fact)
IF the ASD fails to work, the PCM tells you every time
all 8 ways for it to fail.
but that takes a scan tool (any modern scanner works,)

2001 Mercury Sable Intermittent Fuel Pump?

You are right that it could be either component, or something else electrical. The security system will kill the fuel system if the wrong key is used or the system is acting up.
A mechanic would check base fuel pressure with a gauge and also see if the pump is getting power from the relay when it fails to start.

Gas gauge sticks to full what could be causing this it is a 2000 buick regal

Look for a problem with the fuel level sensor wire or a bad fuel level sensor. It could also be a failure right in the fuel gauge. Your model probably uses a direct metering (analog) gauge*. These have wire-wound resistors inside that sometimes burn out or break. If the low fuel warning light comes on when it's supposed to, then the problem is the gauge itself.

*Some of the newer GM models starting in 2001 have replaced analog gauges with digital circuits using stepper motors to drive the gauge needles, and they've had reliability issues with the stepper motors.

Silverado 2001 1500 The service engine light stays on The "low fuel" light comes on intermittently and the fuel guage will flop to empty.

Hi, I have the same truck, year and all.I was having the same problems you are having now. I worked on my truck for days. Finally gave up and called a Chevy dealer mechanic. He told me to remove the plastic covers around the steering wheel. Had to get a manual, but it was worth it for $15. All of the wires coming from most everything in the dash, gauges and all come up to a circuit board that lays under the steering wheel. You can see on the left side where there are about 17 wires coming into this. The board is covered with a white plastic shield. He told me to take the rear end of a screw driver or wrench and tap on the white shield and watch the gauges and check engine light. I had more then the fuel gauge not working at times. I turned the key on, they didn't work, so I tapped the board and all started to work!! After pulling my hair out for 6 or more months, it was the ignition switch. He told me to take it to Auto-Zone and they would clear the service engine light for free with the obd-2 meter. I replaced the switch, and have never had this problem again!! I hope this has helped you, take my word, this is your problem.

Fuel gauge does not move, stays on E, after car starts. Low fuel light is not coming on.

Hello graytape, was the fuel gauge and low fuel light working and then one day just stopped working?, if so, you have probably blown a fuse and you should be able to locate what fuse and where it's located in the owner's manual.
If you recently got the vehicle and then you found out that the gas gauge and low fuel light doesn't work then that is something completely different.
without knowing the year of the vehicle I can only give you an educated guess.
Many vehicles have a float in the gas tank and this float is directly linked to what you see on the gas gauge. However, after a number of years the floats get saturated from the fuel and become heavy, heavy enough to where they don't float anymore. That is one of the most common causes of the fuel gauge not working.
The sensor that activates the low fuel warning light may be independent of the fuel gauge and the fuel in the tank isn't low enough to turn it on. Your tank has to be very low to activate the low fuel warning light.
Good luck!

Fuel waring light stay on. Tank is full. what is the problem

Fuel gauge working correctly?? Sometimes these low fuel lights are triggered by the fuel guage, which is triggered by a float that is in the tank.

Seems to me the indicator/sensor/relay, which is probably located in the fuel tank.... shorted out. I know this sounds strange, but rock the back of the car as if you were checking the shocks/struts, when the car has a 1/4 tank or lower.

The usual problem with these is the fuel level sensor. It is in the fuel tank. You can get the level sensor separate from the fuel pump. You don`t need to replace both.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Have been told the fuel pressure may be low....but can not find the place to connect the fuel gauge to ck it..89 blazer s-10, 4.3. The car will crank and run like new for days and sometime will run for a...

Maybe you have a short in one of the wires at the fuel pump. If the pressure was low, it would probably stay low. There should be a bleeder that looks just like a tire valve. If not, remove the line at your filter and hook the gauge in there. It don't really matter where you put it, it should read the same anywhere. I guess if you wanted to spend the xtra time, ideally you could mount the gauge in the cab(run a "t" off of your fuel line) that way when it dies, you will see the gauge and be able to tell instantly.
