The remote may have come un-synchronised. (Due to a heavy knock or interference from a radio transmitter source. Like someones speed radar detector, or when the battery went flat.)

Consult your dealer on the synchronising process. This is an involved process but easy enough to do yourself at home!

My xj8 Jaguar crank up and sets right back off what all could be wrong

Security is set. Could be one problem. Fuel system can do this, but rarely. Takes a scanner to see where to look first.

My 1998 xj8 auto will no longer lock with remote key fob and the interior lights come on and of for no reason and when i lock with the key after a short time the alarm sounds

could be a weak battery. they tend to make electronics go haywire when there is less than desirable charge left on a battery.

My remote will not open my 1998 XJ8 Jaguar....my key will not open the door...why?

I had a similar problem with my Lexus. I went to Lexus and they re-programmed it. Somehow it got corrupted or lost the code. This may sound stupid but are you sure it's not the batery? Is it the glow type?

Jaguar XJ8 1998 3.2 cranks over but won't start, ran perfectly yesterday, although low on fuel at the time it still showed 30 miles range left.

fill with 5 gal of fuel, check fuel at motor , looks like tire valve, cover with rag and let evaporate if any comes out before starting

Programming the garage door opener

I know what the problem is but never tried to resolve it. I have a 1998 XJ8 and went through the same problem. After numerous attempts to program the 4 channel built in opener I researched the problem and learned that the system in the car actually changes the code after every use. It's a security feature built in to the system. I simply started keeping my remote in the car.

There must be a way to disable the automatic randomizer so it retains the code from your remote opener everytime. Check with the dealer to see if it can be disabled and you will be in business. Please post the info if you get it.

Good Luck!
