Inside the door jamb is a little plunger the it pushed in when the door is closed. It sounds like it is not working properly. If it was working properly it turns on the interior lights when you open the door and turns them off when you close the door. Hope this helps.

Interior lights will not turn off

have a load test done on the battery as it appears that it has a faulty cell. 2 hours for an internal light to flatten the battery indicates that the battery is no good as an interior bulb draws around 5 watts and on a good battery that would amount to around 24 hours usage. Besides all the other problems indicate a lower than required voltage.

I have a 1996 Buick park avenue....when I start the car and start driving all my interior lights keep either flashing or stay on....when I turn off the car and get out and lock it up the interior lights...

This is caused by a defective door ajar switch, it is located on the door latch and there is one for each door, the best thing to do is have the dealer scan the body control module and he can see on the scan tool which switch is the problem one.

Interior lights remain on after doors are closed causing battery to drain overnight. When fuse is removed lights go of and battery stays charged.

Check to be sure interior lights are turn off when you are in the vehical. If so check the interior light switches on the doors for proper opperation.

Dead battery, door ajar lights stay on, is seners not working?

Make sure all doors and trunk are properly closed. If light still stays on, you'll need to track down which door switch is causing the problem. Also make sure the interior light switch on the light controller is switched off.

Battery keeps dying on 2001 Ford Windstar.

Check your battery terminals make sure they are clean and corrosion free.
Also check all ...A-L-L courtesy lights in your car. there are some ceiling mounted lights that are passenger operated and may be on... Also check your glove compartment and consoles for lights.
Also check for charger cords... These have indicator lights and sometimes can drain the batt as well.
Also, under the hood, is a gravity activated lamp . Open the hood and make sure that it's going off and staying off as the hood closes...

I have a similar problem - battery loses charge

No , that doesn't draw enough amps to cause a dead battery . How long does it take for the battery to go dead ? Over night ,couple of day's ? . Your vehicle has a number of control modules on board ,one of these mite not be powering down when it's suppose to . Checking for a parasitic drain with a volt meter is the way to find out what's staying on . There are a couple of different way's to do this .
