My 2004 Chevy Silverado can't pass the state inspection because every time I turn the truck off the memory resets, the same as if I would of disconnected the battery. I know this because I've checked it for codes and as soon as I turn the key off and back on, all the codes are gone, it also runs like **** every time I turn it on as if it hasn't made any fuel trim adjustments, then after about 30secs its fine. This is really annoying because I have no clue as to what it could be and I want to fix it myself. Anyone have an idea?

Have you checked B+ power feed for memory to the PCM ? The PCM/ECM - engine computer has a couple of power feeds and one is for the keep alive memory . Looking at a wiring diagram of the powers and grounds would show that . Testing with a volt meter would show if it has power or not . Check PCM B fuse 20 amp located in the under hood fuse box . An don't just look at it ,check for voltage across the fuse . This fuse should be hot at all times .

SOURCE: Blower won't shut off

You will need a Blower motor resistor and maybe a blower motor resistor connector end. If you look under the dash on the passenger side(may need to remove smooth black cover, vents will be sticking out) you will see a connector going straight up into the blower motor resistor(7 wires/slightly in front of blower motor). Pull out the connector and check for melted terminals/wires. If no melted terminals just replace blower motor resistor with part # 89019088 per GM to revert to part before 04 in order to stop blower motor resistor relay from hanging. Let me know if i can help more.

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

SOURCE: 2004 Chevy Silverado HD 2500

On many engines with distributor less ignition systems and sequential fuel injection, a camshaft position sensor is used to keep the engine's control module informed about the relative position of the crankshaft. By monitoring cam position (which allows the control module to determine when the intake and exhaust valves are opening and closing), the control module can use the cam position sensor's input along with that from the crankshaft position sensor to determine which cylinder in the engine's firing sequence is approaching top dead center. This information is then used by the engine control module to synchronize the pulsing of sequential fuel injectors so they match the firing order of the engine. On some applications, input from the camshaft position sensor is also required for ignition timing.
The camshaft position sensor may be magnetic or Hall effect, and mounted on the timing cover over the camshaft gear, on the end of the cylinder head in an overhead cam application, or in a special housing that replaces the distributor (in the case of some of the GM applications). Operation and diagnosis is essentially the same as that for a crankshaft position sensor.

Re  check the wire harness and the sensor installation to the camshaft sensor in Bank #1 which is where the #1 cylinder is. Good luck and hope this adds some light to you question, keep me posted and be glad to help.

SOURCE: my 2001 chevy silverado has no fuel pressure when

Try having the fuel pressure regulator checked, it's round in shape at the end of the fuel rail, and has a small vaccum line connected to it.
Also check that vaccum line to see what shape it's in, the littlest pin hole will cause a problem.

SOURCE: po452 trouble code changed sensor engine light

you may have to drive it several days for the light to go off, or have the codes cleared. personally I would just drive it. if the computer tests it, and it passes the test, it will go off on its own.

2004 Chevy Silverado. The Service Airbag light is on, but no error codes?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Resetting the airbag light on your Chevy Silverado should be easy to do. Follow this video to watch it being done in a Chevy Silverado. To start with, you will:
  • Put the key into the ignition
  • Turn the key to the "on" position
  • Wait for the airbag light to turn on
  • Wait to continue until the airbag light turns off (around seven seconds)
  • Repeat the same steps twice more
  • Turn on your engine
After you take these steps, your airbag light should turn off. If it doesn't do so, then you should consider taking your vehicle in for diagnostic testing.

If the airbag light remains on, it could mean that something in the system is faulty. That could mean the airbag, the computer wiring, or another issue. Oftentimes, when the airbag light comes on unexpectedly, it is because of interference with the switch.

Inspection Sticker Pass

It all depends on the laws in your state. In my home state of Louisiana, it would not pass. You must have a catylitic converter. Some states do not have that law.

I need to adjust the headlight beam on my 04 chevy tahoe. there passed inspection but the beams arent' lighting the road properly.

If it passed inspection, technically the beams are aimed properly.....that is part of the required inspection.

Take it back to where it was inspected and have them correct it.

Inform them that they passed your vehicle without checking the headlights.....I'm sure they want to keep their inspection license :)

Blower temps

You have a bad temperature control actuator on the driver side. Before you change it make sure that it has not lost its memory . You can reset the system by diconnecting the battery for 10 minutes hook it back up and then start the truck. Turn the system on and let it go thru its reset it will do it all by its self do not touch any of the controls for about 5-6 minutes if it still acts up replace the actuator . Remember to do the reset after you put the new one in.

Talking about the "Change Oil" notification when you first turn on the key? You need to reset the indicator, by (guessing from memory, check your owners manual) turning on key, and pressing the brake 4 times in 5 seconds.

2000 chevy silverado z71 check engine light will not go off.

you have to know what the code is that your truck putting out your truck has 4 O2 sensors. the trucks computer is smart and the code will tell you witch one is bad but if you replace just one the next one on the same exhaust pipe will probley go bad so its safe to replace all four. the draw back to replaceing all of them is thay cost about 80 bucks for one ACDelco O2 sensor. It has to be done before it will pass Emissions. not a hard part to change about a 7/8 open end wrench will take it off. have fun.
