You will need a new regulator they run about 60 dollars at NAPA without the motor. The cables both go to the central gear behind the motor in an x formation

What if I took my motor off to replace it and the wire spool came out? I have all my braided wires out. Do I just wind them back up?

You do not restring the cable, it is stretched and that is why it came off, buy a new regulator.

Why the transmission won't separate from the engine

it will take quite a bit of pulling and wiggling to get the clutch pressure plate to disengage from the drive shaft, doing this when the engine and trans is out of car is more difficult than when the engine is insitue as you have nothing to pull against ,have you got the engine off the ground and the gearbox hanging out with nothing below it ,you need the engine strapped down on a bench with the gearbox hanging over edge then this should give you enough room to pull/wiggle the thing apart, dont resort to prying between tthe housing's etc good luck

Power windows cables are mangled and tangled lol if you know what i mean. ha ha so i need to replace the pully box. how do i install another? got 4 that are bad lol. where can i get a pic of how the cables...

The cables come pre-wired in a frame, you have to replace the whole frame, bolt the glass to it and hook up the motor. It is fairly easy to do, especially when they want $150 to do it for you, The rear ones are harder. Usually when they come apart like yours did, the plastic guides have broken, there is no fix to these. And they usually all go at the same time. Hope this helps.

Drivers electic window not working . have found a cable hanging in foot well. if this is the promblem, where does it connect to.

Hi Leander_grif,
It sounds like the window regulator has come apart on you. This cable that you found hanging in the foot-well,is it similar to a brake cable from a bicycle? If yes is the answer, you need to replace the regulator assembly. Also if you try to raise or lower the window and you can here the motor run, this is a good indicator the mechanical side is the problem.Usually you cannot repair the regulator when it fails, the only option is replacement.
If you find this is the problem and want to try to replace it yourself, drop me a line and I will do my best to help you through the repair. Thanks,Chuck

The cable has come off the front passenger window. Can't see how it hooks back onto lifting mechanism.

I had all four of my windows do this on my 2000 bville. There is a small plastic piece that hooks to both ends of the cable and slides up and down the rail to pull the window up and down. This plastic piece broke on all four of my windows and let the cable fall. I fixed it cheap though. I took apart each door and pulled out the motor/slide/pulley assembly and wired it back together with coat hanger wire. It was a lot of work, but beat paying 160 dollars per window for new assembly (that would probably break again!)

Pontiac Grand Prix Drivers side window won't go down

take the door panel off and see if your regulator is not stripped it is a cable regulator so the wire will be hanging if not try directly operating the motor at the motor and see if it moves up and down fairly easy and fast like new. if it does the problem is in the switch and will need to be replaced. the plug on the motor is a two wire plug and can be hooked up in either direction to make window go up and down.

Clutch won't engage

Check the clutch cable behind the pedal, see if same cable is hooked to the clutch on the motor side, ask a friend to move cable from pedal side, and find out the cable that moves inside the motor.
Check also that cable is fixed into pedal backside.

If cable is OK, then the clutch disk it is stuck on its springs and stays opened. To fix this the clutch assembly must be taken apart, this is quite a challenging job for an inexperienced DIYer, better to take the car to a mechanic in this case.
