Try taking the unit out. there is a sticker on it with a serial number
call your dealer and tell them that you need a code " service department "
they will ask for the serial number on the radio
once you give the serial number they will look it up and give you the code
do not try to put a " random " code this will lock your radio and you will have to unlock it before putting the code in it.
if the screen shows " code " you are fine, just get the code and voile.
if your screen shows " waiting " the radio is locked up and i will assis you on that matter once you get the code.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have the security anti-theft code for your Audi Concert radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Audi dealer!
The sequence of programming for 1998 Audi A4 Concert radio is: 1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed. 2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDS" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt. 3. By the #1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. 4. By the #2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. 5. By the #3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. 6. By the #4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. 7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDS" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed. The radio is now ready for use! Please do rate my response. Thanks!
If the system you bought is marked BOSE, it does not have any onboard amplifier power. The only powered radios for the Catera are units which only have AM/FM/Tape, all the CD units are Bose systems which used separate amps mounted on a tray in the trunk.
K134 Multifunction relay is under the dash on the driver side. When sitting in driver seat, above your left ankle, it is located behind a cardboard panel. Replacing cures many problems with the Bose radio, sunroof, gas and trunk releases, fog lights.
press rds and fm1/2 together and hold it til your radio indicates the numbers 0000 then enter your code using the buttons 1234 keep presssing the number one til u get the first digit of your code then go on to the next number and so forth. once you get the code in press rds and fm1/2 again til lthe radio automatically turns on.
This solution is close, but not accurate for my 1998 A4 2.8. You press and hold FM2 and RDS until the display indicates 1000. Immediately release. Then enter code with radio numbers 1 through 4, pressing each one till you get the first no. of the code, then for 2, press till you get second no. of code, etc. The press and hold FM2 and RDS until radio comes on.
Press & Hold RDS & TP at the same time , display will flash enter your correct code then press and hold RDS & TP together to save the code. Radio will be unlocked after that if the correct code is entered
I tried a random code before reading this and it is locked. Can you help?
