1993 satro van stalls when starting. runs about 5 seconds then stalls. takes between 5 and 10 times then it will run and will stall once in a while while driving. I put my ear to the gas tank and could hear the fuel pump labour then stop and the van would stall. Fuses are good relay has power. Is the fuel pump or a sensor or something. the pump has always been loud since it was replaced in mexico 2 years ago with a new pump.

The ground wire to your fuel sending unit may have corroded off. Inspect the ground wire to the sending unit since it's separate from the rest of the fuel sending unit wire harness. The EGR could just be dirty with carbon build up and can be cleaned with Carburetor cleaner. If it's too badly gummed up with carbon, you may have to replace it with a new EGR valve. The other area to address would be is to also is to clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and pat attention to the IAC ( idle air control) valve. If that if that is also dirty with carbon, it will have a hard time adjusting the engine idle speed between the different loads on the engine when stopped.
