I have a BMW 318 TI 1996, which will not start. The battery is fine and the starter turns over, its got fuel, i checked the leads and there didn't seem to be any spark... There was a really heavy storm overnight and i was wondering if it could have shorted out the electrics. But all the lights work fine and no dash warnings come up. Internal electrics seem fine also. Tried with areo start and no luck, won't catch at all. Any ideas on what part of the electrics or anything else it could be??

Might need to read owners manual and see if these two circuits are on the same fuse, then see what you need to do about resetting alarm. Then report back what you came up

If it is an automatic try turning the ignition on and moving the shifter all the way down and place it in neutral to start it if not then put it in park and make sure it is all the way in good luck! Ed

SOURCE: poor starting problem bmw 318 ti

WARNING! Always wear protective eyewear, gloves and necessary clothing before inspection or work begins. Never crank an engine over when you are near the battery or engine. A battery is filled with explosive gasses that can ignite when extreme heat or a spark is present. A battery could have residual acid on the outside casing so use caution when handling a battery and the surrounding area. Use baking soda to neutralize any suspected acid residue before work begins.

You can check the car battery using a multimeter or voltmeter an electronic one is preferred , connect the black wire to the negative side (-) and the red to positive , WARNING :DO NOT CROSS THE RED AND BLACK WIRES OR SHORT CIRCUIT THE LEADS OF THE BATTERY OR MULTIMETER YOU CAN GET SERIOUSLY HURT!!!!! you should also get a spare watering can and fill it with water ,  (dont reuse for other purposes for safety) and remove those little tabs (usually around 4 or more) and fill it up very little in each tab/cap make sure you DONT fill it to the top. The good condition of a battery is 12.5 and 12.8 volts on the multmeter and when the car is started it
(not driven just started) should around 14V which shows that your alternater (acts as battery charger when driving) is working properly.

SOURCE: i have a bmw 318 ti 95 my problem is it keeps

you may want to check the engine's timing. You may want to check also the spark plugs as it may tell you if you are advanced or not. A black tip spark plug would tell you that the timing is late while a little white is advanced. You need is a light brown color. If there is no problem on the timing you may want to check on the fast idle control valve and pcv if it needs a little cleaning.

I have BMW 318 ti, 1996. when I turn the radio on, it works for couple of minutes and then stop playing. what should I do?

Your options: Pull radio and have BMW send in for repairs (usual about 10 day turn around time) OR replace with aftermarket radio. Internal heat sometimes gets to factory BMW radios. You might also check Ebay for a factory replacement, just make sure you get code for new radio.

I have bmw 316i n reg went out to start it and there was nothing it would bump start so i changed starter motor and next day was fine then day after it done it again does anyone know what it could be...

there may be a damaged wire coming from the receiver ring which sits round your ignition lock, this "reads" your key and allows the starter to turn your engine over so if there is an intermittant fault here that could cause your non-starting.
