I recently bought a 2002 jetta tdi, no check engine lights are on but something is drawing juice from the battery and when i go to start it after an hour the battery is stone dead with nothing on in the car. Next when i hit my lock and unlock button on the remote, the only door that locks and unlocks is the driver door. Anybody know what the problem could be?

Parasitic drain on battery. connect cheap test light between negative battery post and cable. with hood light unplugged light should be off. if it is on, something is pulling on the battery. unplug one fuse at a time until the light goes off. then check (unplug) each component in that circuit to pinpoint the drain. replace the shorted component

I recently replaced the battery in my 2001 Jetta TDI; it started up fine this morning, but after sitting for about 2 hours, it refuses to turn over. It cranks very hard and all the lights come on, so it...

Check, clean and tight correctly the battery leads. If the problem still occurs remove the electrical starter motor out from the engine, repair it (change carbon brushes, bearings, ...) and install it back in place. Then test the engine. It should cranking & start immediately.
Good Luck!

How old and what quality is your battery? If you have the original or an aftermarket battery in it, make sure it's within the rated life before you start messing with other things.

It sounds like one or more fuses have blown. (Your car has fuses rather than circuit breakers.)

Open the driver's side door and look at the area near where the door hinges. There should be a panel that you can open on the side of the dashboard. Use your key or a screwdriver in the small slot to open the panel.

However, there is a yellow, plastic tool attached to the inside of the panel that will help you to remove and insert fuses.

See the following link for a "map" of the fuses.

I'd recommend checking fuses 14 and 38.

Don't know much about VW but if it's fine, and it doesn't happen again I wouldn't worry about it. If it does try resetting the ECU by removing the battery terminals and touching the positive lead(red wire) to the negative battery post. It might spark a little, this is just the capacitors discharging, resetting your ECU and starting over. It's like restarting your personal computer

did batteries work temporarily?.. you then have a parasitic leak sucking power when not running...radio aftermarket or alarm or gps will do it ...also checking ground from battery is critical to good connection
