The 2004 Honda CRV doesn't use a belt, it uses a chain. A belt will wear down and need to be replaced. A timing chain, on the other hand, should last the lifetime of the car. It's almost unheard of for a timing chain to break.

PS: The 2004 CRV does have a known issue where the AC compressor has a tendancy to, litterally, blow up. Honda settles a class action lawsuit about it.

SOURCE: Timing chain or belt for a 2004 Honda Accord

It depends, 4cyl. is a chain, the 6cyl. is a belt and it is an interference engine. I have not done this one yet, but Hondas are never that easy.

SOURCE: has a 2004-2006 honda accord 2.2 diesel, timing belt or chain?

Timing chains are overall more reliable, and never require replacement. Timing belts on the other hand run much quieter and are easily replaced.
Timing belts should be replaced every 60-90 thousand miles depending on driving conditions and climate.

SOURCE: 2004 Honda CRV Check Engine light

the check engine lamp is not affected by things like tyres, brakes etc. It shows that the vehicles engine management system had detected a fault with the engine or engine sensors. Check the engine for broken or disconnected wiring (maybe it was disconnected during the replacing of the hoses but not reconnected). If you fail to locate anything, check the manual for the correct fault code retrieval procedure or take the vehicle to a professional. Tyres may affect your ABS system or Airbag systems but they usually have their own warning lamp and are unrelated to the check engine lamp..

1997 Honda CRV. It just died, won't start but will turn over. I checked all fuses and they are good.

It could be so many things. You really need an auto electrician with a Pro grade scan tool computer to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. It could be fuel pump or any one of the sensors. It could even be a broken camshaft valve timing belt and it is an interference engine.

Between 1997 and 2001 Honda CRV was equipped with a timing belt under the hood. However, starting in the 2002 model year, Honda swapped out the timing belt in favour of the much more durable timing chain. To this day the CRV is still made with a timing chain.

2004 Honda CrV THE KEY SEEMS BENT AND WONT TURN WHEEL LIKE ITS IN LOCK MODE 1 TIME JIGGLED AND IT TURNED

It could be the pins in the ignition are damaged and need to be replaced. I had the same problem with my 2004 CRV. If you happen to have a skilled locksmith in your area, they can fix it for loads cheaper than an auto mechanic, who would likely want to replace the entire ignition, in which case you'd need new keys programmed and all this other stuff that is time consuming and therefore costly. Good luck.

We've got a '54 Honda CRV 2.0 l petrol which has a timing chain that has slipped. Any advice?

you could have bent valves but try fitting it on and start but if it does not then u ll have to take your cylinder head off (chances of bending the valves 90% and that is if u tried stating it or when it broke when the car was driving

Engine symbol lit on dash of my 2004 honda crv but i dont why

An error has been recorded by the engine computer. Take the car to your local auto parts store, and ask them to read the codes. Many of the chain stores will do this for free. They can then sell you the part you need and turn off the light.
