What would cause the 03 beetle to start fine and then die immediately? There is gas in the car, and the car was driven into the garage the night before without any problems. Help!

The bproblem ussually is there isnt enough fuel pressure try fuel filter first then if that does not cure it you will have to get new fuel pump.

03 beetle 2.0 ran out of gas and car wont start and backfires

Possible that it has sucked water and sediment off bottom of tank causing a lean backfire no start. Have you tried spraying carb cleaner into the throttle body to see if it tries to run on that ? As Ray said it is possible timing jumped.

My 2002 beetle will start but immediately dies how do you fix this problem?

The description is very vague. Make sure you have gas. then look on your dash. There is something called immobilizer. Basically your key programmed to your car. If that is acting up you will see the little icon of a key on your dash. that might be the deal. If it was your mass airflow, you can unplug it. Your car then will run in an open loop program but should run.

My 1998 Volkswagen Beetle keeps dying.

With the car running rough it could cause the harsh shift but if it is staying at 5000 rpms then the ****** is about to go out on you. The rough idle sounds like a vacuum leak. If you can keep the car running at idle listen for a sucking type sound. That would indicate where the vacuum leak is.

My 2000 VW Beetle idles really rough and loses

I had that problem for the longest time. I had to clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Very easy to get to. Go to any auto parts store and ask them for the MAFS Spray. If cleaning it doesn't work, you may need to replace the MAFS. Once again easy to replace. Make sure you put it back nice and tight.....

Cant open gas cover

I had this happen to me as well on my 2002 New Beetle GLS. It really sucked at the time because I needed to fill up gas immediately at the time to run errands.

My suggestion to open the gas cover:

1. Open the trunk and look on your bottom right, there should be a access panel cover there where you would also go to change your rear brake light bulb.

2. Once you open the access panel, there should be a wire there with either a red or yellow sticker on it. (I admit, that wire is a bit stingy so give it a good quick and hard pull, but gentle.) Pull that wire and VOILA! Your gas cover should open so that you can start filling up again.

Note: If this doesn't work out for you, it could possibly be that either your cable is not working with the actuator or you need to put a new gas cover switch.

I am not a VW Beetle Guru or anything but it might help a bit in troubleshooting. Good luck!

2000 VW Beetle will not start in cold, runs fine above 40 degrees

I was just reading the owners manual for my 2000 beetle and it says the diesel fuel has a problem with the wax separating from it below 40 degrees. Put the car in a warm garage and it will start.

2000 beetle will die at random times, and will not start for about 15 minutes!

this can be caused by a bad fuel filter or dirty injectors. try a bottle of fuel injector or fuel system cleaner in a tank of gas. i suggest lucas products which can be found at any parts store.
