Check ALL of your fuses and circuit breakers in your fuse box under the hood. I REALLY need more information from you to go further. Please let me know what you find and I will be able to assist better at that time.

Do the head lights work????????that is first
becaus it works key off a speaks volume to any tech

wild guess:
battery installed backwards or you made sparks
remove it or alt or starter.
fuses blew.
easy peasy japaneezy
or worse,there is always that.?

elaborations. pretending HL work.
buy and $10 voltmeter and end the guessing?
5min work and bingo.
wow this fuse has 12vdc one side and 0 other.?
or key on fuses, same.
5min

there are many ways to do this.
start at end work back
start and begin (key) and work forward
or the middle (cuts job in half too)

so i go to the starter solenoid first.
if head lights dead i work them first....
starter 3 lugs.
outboard lug first.(batter + is battery installed backward?)
got +12v on the big lug (y/n) (outside lug)
connect meter neg test lead to battery neg lug for all tests.
if voltage drops fast? or does cranking
bad battery ,starter shorted or cables (or discharged battery) (we use an ammeter to discover shorted starters,or hand turn engine for seized engines.
next tiny lug, (called Key Line)
it goes hot 12v? cranking. so turn key.
does it go hot? (hot means 10to 12v cranking0
if yes, goes hot cranking on the tiny lug
(yes starter dead , or the battery minus lug is loose , the far end of minus bat cable must be tight.
no? that means the KEY line is dead.
the car if a/t tranny cuts the key line via the P/N switch,or some immobilizers., i stop here on key line, ask.

some cars have wire fuses, looks like wire, and are not. "fusible link wires"
if you change out starter or alt without battery neg lug not disconnected in step 1 ,you risk main fuses under hood(blowing or far worse)
so what does "good fuses mean" OP? (the looks)>?
or just dash fuses. tested skipped under hood.
fuses that look bad are
fuses that look ok, can in fact have hair line cracks so we actually test them or waste Huge time.
and go poor. (tests done wrong are highway-to-h3ll)
or looks like dog chasing his tail.
0 ohms good
12v both sides key on, good. The alternator on my 1992 Isuzu Trooper fried - 07316db1-a220-4760-a228-0a546c4edbe8.jpg

    no engine stated
    no transmission type stated
    fails

my guess, is you changed the ALT
and skipped step one, (remove neg battery lug)?
boom will happen every time. done wrong.

the above drawing covers this system
    this shows a clutch switch
but the a/t has P/n switch in the stead.

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2016

    still no power?
    try to make this clearer?
    no head lights?
if true this gets way more easy
try posting all things that work or not.
    like:
    head lights dead
    key on cluster lamps dead
    radio dead
    engine will not crank(got that)
all lamps inside and out side car dead
even in Head lamp 1st park position
    blinkers dead and hazards.
    brake lamps dead

this tells the technician just how many main feeds are dead.
    see>?

got 12.65 volts at the battery terms. or more?>

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2016

    battery installed backwards. OMG really?
this can blow up expensive auto gear easy
    or more....

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2016

I love the green smoke deal
like the only one one earth reported
im sure is real but wow green
my sick guess,is this stops global worming(sic)?
    heheheheehehe

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2016

the drawing are found at mitchels and alldata. its simple car,
    simple wiring.
to find this a voltmeter makes this so very easy.
make sure battery is not backwards first
next time remove battery lug first
then put back last, after service

Proven if the cables of the battery are well clean- verifies that the cable negative this clean and well tight in the extreme that goes to the engine and the bodywork- verifies that the cable positive this clean and well tight in the terminal of starter motor- Checks if the relay of starter is in good condition-Note if the cart has diseases automatic puts the lever in neutral and dale start but gives you nothing dale some blows to the starter motor if it gives you star the problem is the starter motor. Thanks

what if blown alternator destroyed that battery,? called over charging destruction.
    (if the reg shorted, happens)
fuses test good, (not look good)
    so,
    12.6vdc rested, using that meter
    engine can turn by hand.
the turn key to crank lost 12vdc to 1 or 3 solenoid lugs, or more?
    if yes, (i bet yes)
    then what lug is dead>?

op we can fix this one test at time!
    got tools.or not.?
    no tools its hopeless ,
    tool 1
    voltmeter
    got 12.6vdc at battery,?
    LOOK 1:
    Are lugs there
neg to neg and plus to plus?
    LOOK 2:
    ARE HEAD LIGHTS WORKING?
    NO?

I have a 96 trooper the battery light, and the 4wd came on and the heat and air quit working all at the same time. Need to fix it. Any ideas what could cause this

charge/battery/alternator lamp on is top clue
4wd, ill ignore.
you meant Hvac blower dead.? right, dash blower? same blower for heat and a/c so......???????
that to means blown fuse, or battery went DOA.
battery volts is 12.6v charged. and rested
running its 13.3vdc to 15v if not the alternator is OFFLINE.

with a voltmeter this is 5min work, with out days.? guessing?
ill do why> notparts
battery dead. (or discharged. the charge lamps comes out for alternator dead, due to many reasons, engine stalled,? low engine rpm, 400 is too slow, fan belt fell off or slips.
fuse blown. check fuse?
any were, related to alternator, and battery are suspect if alternator rpm is good.

no guessing here, that be silly, i use the voltmeter 1st.
12vdc across all fuses in all boxes, on both sides of fuse key on
got that?

1997 Isuzu trooper discharges when I drive. 4x4, brakes, and battery light clicks on and off. discharges when it clicks then charges with next click. HELP!!!battery and alternator tested good. changed alt...

You say the alternator tested good, on the car or off ?
There are two fuses from the alternator to the key switch, a 7.5 amp and a 15 amp. There is also an 80 amp fuse from the alternator to the battery.
I would check these fuses and the connections at the alternator, plus the ground between the engine and the frame.

Replace alternator and still not charging

Possible you have an old battery with maybe a dead cell? I would have it tested.
Make sure all battery and alternator connections are clean and tight. A loose or poor connection can cause no charging. Check all your underhood fuses, too.
Good luck.

Brake light on, gas light on, battery light on. Dashboard lights.

Hi, that would be your alternator needs to be overhauled. The battery light is usually a good indicator that your alternator is not charging.
You'll need to get the bearings, brushes, and vacum pump seals replaced. Hopefully the regulator is ok, but they will test this when you get it repaired.

In short your alternator is not charging....

Alternator belt diagram 1992 Isuzu trooper

1. Remove battery terminals and secure them away from the battery posts using nylon wire ties.

1a. Fine some comfortable eye glasses (clear or yellow) and keep them on. There are plenty of opportunities to get debris in your eyes during this procedure.

2. Spray "PB Blaster" (loosens bolts) on two bolts that secures alternator.

3. Jack-up vehicle on side to access alternator. Use a jackstand to support.

4. Using a 10mm open-ended wrench, loosen the bolt that swings the alternator. Screwing the bolt "in" or toward the engine will allow play to increase in the alternator belt. Loosen the 12mm bolt slightly next to the 10mm bolt (approximately 1.5" toward engine).

5. Continue to loosen 10mm bolt until there is enough slack in the belt to remove the belt from the alternator pulley.

6. Remove belt. It may be possible to remove belt without removing fan faring. Maybe not. If not, you will need to remove plastic fairing. If you must remove fair, go below fan fairing and disassemble connectors that hold together pieces of fan fairing. Carefully remove.

7. Install alternator fan from above.

8. Check that alternator belt is on all tracks (from below with a flashlight), and slowly tighten.

9. Secure 10mm and 12mm bolts. Recheck tightness.

10. Reassemble battery connection and run vehicle at idle for about 5 minutes. Check belt for proper tension.

11. CAREFULLY check tension of belt. Or disassemble battery connections and re-check belt tension.

12. Reassemble fan fairing (if not already assembled), re-connect battery terminals, and have a nice day. :-)
