The information center located on the overhead console gathers information from several sources. If some of those sources are not providing info then the display won't show it. When you say it is not working you need to see first if it is lit or not, or is it that some data (not all) is not showing?

SOURCE: Transfer Case Lubricant for 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

that would be 80w90 for the differentual, for the gearbox it is 75w90 this is for a manual gearbox, and no do not use auto fluid in a manual box, it is way way thinner and your box would possibly last 2 to 3 days before you would be purchasing a new one, hope this helps

Mine did the same I found out it was a break light out in the third break light. Easy to remove with a screwdriver. Replaced the bulbs and the warning went away.

If you need more details about youe Jeep ZJ Grand Cherokee, can check this documents about Repair Manual: Grand Cherokee 1993-1998 FSM

To get out, it's easy and doesn't require a prybar.
  • Get a 14mm or 9/16" socket and a long handled ratchet or breaker bar.
  • Get the belt around all the pulleys except the A/C compressor or Alternator.
  • The tensioner pulley is near the Alternator toward the center of the engine. It's on a spring loaded arm. Get your socket on the center nut of this pulley.
  • Slowly pull the ratchet toward the center of the engine. The pulley will pivot on the arm allowing you to get the belt on the final pulley.
  • Slowly release the tension.
  • You're done
