Car was working fine...just bought 2001 chevy malibu with a 3.1 liter engine, 37,000 miles on it. Drove on this past Sunday, everything was fine...went out to drive it on Monday and no heater, no cruise control, no gas guage and no temp. guage reading and the radio does not work...checked all three fuse panels and all fuses, all fuses are fine...any ideas? Then drove it up the street 1/4 of a mile and the check engine light came on...car seems to run fine and starts right up.

You do not hotwire a car anylonger. You must get past the passlock security system. The easiest thing to do is contact your local GM dealership. With proof of ownership, they can cut you a new key from the VIN number.
Trace the power source from fuse to relay etc and make sure pump is working. if all checks out then check pump working and for preasue at engine. you may have a dammaged fuel line from the tank which would also cause the same problem
Is your theft light flashing. If it is try this. I learned this from emission wiz
Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
we disconnected the battery to "reboot" the computer?? It worked...seems to be running fine but we are taking it in for the 90,000 mile tune up this week to make sure.
