I the engine ran completely out of oil, the engine has been cooked and is probably locked up from the friction between unlubricated metal moving parts. Also may have spun bearings which means the main or rod bearings stacked on top of each other causing the engine to lockup. If you ran the engine without oil until it quit you will probably need a new engine.
could be one of a few things, but firstly the running at 40mph is a safety feature to stop you damaging the engine. I would guess low oil level, or blocked oil filter. Does it run at a higher temp. when doing 70 mph for a while, or is it running warmer than normal, that is an indicator of low oil level. I hope this helps
My car is not going over 40mph and when I drive it doesnt want to shift to 4 gear also last month when I took it for an oil change they said the transmision fluid was leaking minor problem but it has enough fluid in.and it does have a smell when I turn the vehicle on
have u cheked transmission? does it change gears like it's supposed to?
