Indicators turn headlights off...

When driving with the headlights on and I use the turn indicator; after making the turn and the indicator cancels as usual, it switches the headlights off! This problem also happens in reverse sometimes; the headlights won't come on until I use the indicators which will then turn the headlights on, until they cancel, in which case they turn the headlights off with them again!!

Volvo 1998 S70 headlight and indicators won't always turn on

I have had this happen before - this is the multifunction switch on the steering column. The one on my Ford took about 10 minutes to change (two bolts). My problem - I would turn my lights off, then turn them back on and nothing, then they would suddenly pop on. after a bit my lights would not come on at all. I had to drive with my Flash to Pass lights for a couple of days when driving at night.

I hope this helps!

1990 jeep wrangler turn signals do not flash adequately when headlights are on..?

Is this an optical issusion and the indicators are merely being "flooded " by the wash of light from the headlights. Try a stronger bulb in the indicators or use amber bulbs if not already fitted.

Turn signals quit working. The hazard lights and headlights work. What is the problem?

Hazards are a separate circuit.
Check fuse for indicators, suspect stalk switch - or control relays for the indicators.

Indicators not self cancelling & Horn not working

I had the same problem. Horn not working and indicators not self cancelling.
After removing the steering wheel I found that the central two pronged collet, that engages with the steering wheel and drives the horn contact slipring and indicator cancellation, had worn down its prongs. this had caused the horn wires to stop rotating and they had been snapped by the motion of the steering wheel.
the ideal solution would be to replace the collet and horn wires but I managed to repair both
