The battery on our 2000 Beetle seems go go dead every 4-5 days if not used. The battery was purchased towards the end of January of this year and has happened 3 times in the past month. It sounds like it's going to turn over but the if you try every few minutes, it just tends to get weaker. Any reason why? Does it sound like there is a short somewhere?

Car won't start...nothing...no dash lights....just a clicking sound.

Sounds like the battery is dead. If this is the original battery, it has outlived it's life expectancy ! ! ! ! FIVE years is about all I get out of a battery anymore...

What type of brake fluid should be used in a 2000 vw beetle

Valvoline DOT 3 & 4 brake fluid. VW's past the 1996 Model year use DOT 4, so your safest bet is the Valvoline combination.

03 vw beetle, battery is dead and door key cylinder is broken and just spins. How do I open the door or hood? Keyless remote will not work with battery dead?

Wow. You have a real problem here. I see a couple of choices for you.
#1 Can you get in through the passenger door or the trunk?
#2 You can break a window that will allow you to reach the door locks.
#3 You need a membership in an auto club or a friend with AAA. They will open your door using a 'slim-jim' or a 'wonder tool'. This will use up 1 of the 4 emergency calls that are allowed per year.
I would suggest the last option. Just ask around at work or check with your neighbors. You cannot 'roll-over' those 4 uses per year. It's use 'em or lose 'em. Many people will share their membership, if you simply ask. Good luck

2000 vw beetle went to start car and battery

Take to dealer. Vehicle needs vag-com to be reprogrammed. Bring all keys with you to dealer.

Battery replacement

Easy replacement. The battery is located underneath the fuse block in the engine compartment. Stores like AutoZone will replace your battery free of charge if you purchase the battery from them. Personally, I like the Sears Die-Hard, but they charge a nominal fee. Probably not the original battery after all these years, so check for a warranty replacement by looking for the earlier receipt.

2004 VW Beetle no power to Radio

Your radio is most likely in "safe mode", an anti-theft feature. There's a 4-digit code that will need to be entered in order to get the radio operational. The code may be on a label inside the spare tire well in your trunk (some years). Otherwise the code can be obtained from the VW dealer with the car's VIN number and serial number from your radio.

2000 beetle battery can't hold charge

i think you should take the car to a local parts house and have them to test the charging system . If the voltage regulator has stuck it could be pulling a constant draw on your battery also check at night to make sure that none of your lights are on sometimes the light switches can go bad and cause this to happen such as hood or trunk.Hope this has helped you out some!!

Battery light on

sounds to me like the battery isn't charging. I would have to say it is the alternator Here is the website
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/partlist_Alternator_11_R|GRPALTSAMS__alternator___

Just copy and paste! I didn't know the size of your engine so its based on the 2.0L 1984CC L4 FI VIN: AEG I hope this helps and good luck!!!!

VW new Beetle

OK, it sounds like the battery is dead flat, or just dead. First thing to check is the voltage on the battery - if it is 12 to 13v it might just need recharging, but if it is a lot less it could be due for replacement.
You should be able to get it running by getting it jump started using cables from another car. When you get the engine running again check that no interior lights stay on after you close the door, and that no audio systems or other electrical items have been left on.

If the battery is more than three years old, it is probably just worn out, but if it is a lot newer, come back with more info and I will try to help you further.

I take it you have a "real" key to get you inside so you can open the hood / bonnet?

Hope this helps a bit to start with. D.
