Check all cylinders on all four wheels. Refill brake fluid container. Also check master cylinder. In newer models . The brake lines are crisscrossed. Like an X. it used to be different but since the early 90's the criscross idea was utilized because oof the ABS anti lock system.

2001 Silverado 2500 HD Why Rear brakes don't work after I installed new hydro-boost power booster, master cylinder, calipers, and pads. I bled master cylinder before installing, and brakes beginn

Hello Patricia,

Have you checked the master brake cylinder reservoir for brake fluid loss?

I don't suspect the master cylinder as you have replaced it... but am more suspect of a leaking brake line or fitting which should have
been discovered when you had the system bled.

The only time I ever had a rear brake problem with a 2500 series Chevrolet was due to seized rear brake caliper guide pins...as your calipers are also new that is not your problem.

If your brake pedal feels spongy and travels to the floor board you have air in the system, a brake fluid leak or a failure in the power steering system, such as a broken hose, broken power steering pump drive belt, or failed pump, would result in a loss of pressure to both the hydro-boost and steering.

Changing the rear brake pads and can't compress the piston into the caliper- any ideas? 2003 rendezvous

FIRST REMOVE SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER. THEN USE A LARGE C - CLAMP AND LEAVE THE OLD BRAKE PAD IN PLACE ON PISTON SIDE THEN COMPRESS THE PISTON IN CALIPER BORE. IF YOU SEE SIGNS OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKING AROUND PISTON SEAL.THE BRAKE CALIPER NEED REPLACING.WHEN YOU FINISH BRAKE JOB NEW BRAKE SHOES IN PLACE MAKE SURE BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER COVER BACK ON MASTERCYLINER THEN PUMP BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL NEW BRAKE PADS SEAT AGAINST BRAKE ROTOR.CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN MASTERCYLINDER MAKE SURE ITS NOT LOW.

2000 Chev Silverado 2500, Brake lines rusted and cracked loosing all fluid. replaced all lines. Got front to bleed sucessfully, but no oil to back brakes. what do I have to do to bleed back brakes?

Try opening a front bleeder and depress the pedal ALL the way, should feel a light "tic" as it reaches the bottom, close the bleeder and try to bleed the rear again, but instead of pumping ,just take the master cover off ,open the rear bleeders and wait 10 min or so for the fluid to gravity bleed out the air. Thinking the proportioning valve is tripped so no fluid is allowed to reach the rear, opening the front should reset the valve . If there is alot of air the valve will just trip again if you pump the pedal, hence the gravity bleed.

2000 chevy 1500 silverado- rear brakes overheating

Have someone push & release pedal while at wheel with problem. See if it takes a while or slow to release. If yes, have wrench ready on bleeder screw, and try again, if it sticks/holds, crack bleeder screw, if it releases, I'd replace hose.

Chev Cavalier 2003 only one rear turn/brake/hazard light

I have a 2002 Chev Cavalier that had the same exact problem. I replaced the bulb harness (purchased from a chevy dealership for around $5) which was fairly easy to do. I have had zero problems with it since.
