Well the only two places it can be leaking form are the front tanny seal or the pump seal if its minor leave it for now, because to fix it you have to remove the transmission.

Tranny fluids are leaking on my monte carlo

Hi, that is a bad deal. The best way to find where it is leaking from is to get under the car and wipe off all the oil and muck under there on your oil pan and transmission pan, crossmembers and most anywhere you see leakage buildup. Then get a couple old cardboard boxes and cut them flat. Then lay them under the entire (from bumper to the back of drivers door across entire width of vehicle) car while it is parked for the night. Start car and let idle about 10 mins. shifting in to reverse and creeping back a foot and then into drive creeping back up a foot a few times. Let the car sit overnight. Next day observe the leak spots left on the cardboard and then go under the car and try to locate the origin of the leak. The transmission is most likely leaking from the pan, but there are transmission lines that go to and from your radiator. That is so fluid can circulate through a channel in your radiator to cool the fluid. Those can spring a leak also. If your pan leaks, you can change the gasket and filter in the transmission (fluid also at that time, as you will lose about 1/2 to 2/3rds
of it when dropping the tranny pan. If your lines are leaking, they should be replaced complete rather than attempting to repair them. (Occasionally they will have a band clamp on the rubber portion near the radiator that can be loose). If you see it dripping from the rear of the transmission, the seal around the output shaft is bad. It can be replaced at home if you have patience. If it is leaking from between the engine and transmission, the front input shaft seal is bad. You have to pull the tranny out to replace it. Quite a job.
Good luck with solving your leaks!

I have a 1987 Vette that has never dripped anything onto the driveway, until last night. It is really leaking good all of a sudden. Where should I look first.

First you need to identify what's leaking? What color is fluid? Green, Red, Brown? and where under car is fluid leaking from center, front rt, etc... Another option is check ALL fluid levels - coolant, oil, power steering, transmission.

How do I check the fluid in the bell housing on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The fluid that is inside of your torque converter, which is located in the bell housing is your transmission fluid.. If your tranny fluid level is good, then the fluid inside of your torque converter is good...Now if you are leaking fluid from that area, it could be either your front seal that is inside the bell housing, or your rear main oil seal......

ck the condition of the tranny fluid. If the fluid is very dark, it will need changing. Another problem with the jeep auto tranny is that if the fluid has not been changed in a long time, the clutch material will wear and clog the tranny filter inside the pan.If there is alot of clutch material in the pan and you change the fluid and filter, sometimes the tranny won't work because the clutches are worn out too much.

How do I drain transmission fluid (2000 sable ls(dohc))?

On an automatic tranny, the tranny oil pan is removed to drain the tranny fluid - a somewhat messy job. Typically when this done the tranny filler is replaced. A new pan gasket is installed in this procedure.
On the manual tranny, there is a drain plug at the bottom side of the tranny to drain the oil.
I have used a home made setup using a suction pump with small diameter tubing to **** the fluid out from the tranny filler tube. This is when I was replacing the filter and I dropped the pan. I did the suction routine to avoid all that fluid dripping out when you loosen the pan.
Have you located the leak? Is it from the tranny oil pan or maybe from a tranny cooler line?

2001 jeep grand cherokee leaking transmission fluid. It's not gushing out, just barely dripping when stopped and the tranny fluid level seems fine when checked (hot). It seems to be coming from the rear...

clean off entire area near where you suspect the leak is coming from, then look carefully to locate it. Try slightly tightening any bolts near the leak area after it's located If at the pan gasket do not overtighten or you will crush the gasket and it will leak more. Yes, it can be driven as long as you keep it full.

94 Jeep Wrangler grinds and thuds

Usually when a pinion bearing goes bad it will make a howling sound when your not on the gas. It could be that it went bad. If you think it's tranny fluid leaking check your fluid level it is dark red by the way and should not smell burnt if it does you have tranny problems. Gear oil is not red but dark brown.

Oil leaking from front of tranny 85 bronco II 4x4

Check the oil level in your transmission, I take it that it's a standard so your going to have to do it by removing the fill plug and felling for fluid. If it's low then you are losing transmission fluid though the front input shaft bearing and seal. Check the hydraulic clutch fluid, see if your losing some fluid there too, You may have a small leak bell housing.
Good luck and keep me posted.
