Tailgate doesn't stay open, 2001 Volvo V70

You need new tailgate struts. Most auto parts stores sell them. Just stick a broom stick under the tailgate and remove the ceiling panel and unsnap the old ones and snap the new ones in. Make sure to install them exactly the way they were before you started.

Check the owner's manual most cars have a manual release cable in the back.

Check the wiring to the rear hatch. The cables break and cause a variety fo problems like yours. You will have to take the plastic cover off and expose the cables.

Have you tried using the key at the tail gate, ,open with the key then move then push the locking mechanism open with a screwdriver the latch close while the door/gate was open, push it back open use some force. Hope this help if is a mechanical issue and not electrical it doesn't matter .

I have a 2001 volvo v70 wagon. My lower brake lights are not working but my 3rd (top) brake light works fine. I replaced the bulbs checked my brake light relay checked all fuses and ground wire and all seems to be fine, but the lower brake lights still doesn't work. I need Help!

The A/C needs to be serviced by a certified volvo tech or some one who know's a/c very well it can be just low charge or the speed sensor on the compressor.

There's a plunger switch at the top of the tailgate that is pushed in as the tailgate is closed. Try pressing it by hand several times and see if the problem clears up. A quick spray of electronic contact cleaner might also help. As a final fix, remove the switch (2 screws), check the wires/connections. If the switch is bad you can get an exact replacement from Volvo or a pretty close replacement from your local auto parts store.

It could be something simple like a blocked jet. If you take one of your wife's fine sewing needles and gently puch it into the centre of the nozzle it will work again if that is the probelm. It could be a problem with the motor and pump but they are durable so I would try the needle trick first.

The rod on the inside of the door could have came off out of it's holder try to lock it by hand and unlock it with the key to make sure that it is not the lock first

you will need new t gate lock assembly parts inside are worn out
