Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Corvette

Gm cars and trucks with security light on, veihcle will not start, stall after a sec of running.

A relearn of the key may help and is done with the ebrake up to keep the day time running lights off . put key in the ignition and turn it to the on position right before crank for 10sec. turn it off for 10 sec. then turn it back on for 10 mins. repeat two more times back off for 10 sec.and then back on for 10 mins. it iscruishle you try to keep with in the times or very close. 10 seconds and 10 minutes three times and that will relearn the key.

this will work for passlock 2 systems and newer.

how to change ignition key for 2006 chevy cobalt

remove the plastic cover from the steering colum then you will see the switch on the left side remove the 2 screws you will need to turn the key to release the switch reverse to put together then you will need to relearn the switch to the body control module this is done by turning to crank and leaving it in the run position til the security light stops flashing you will need to do this three time after the third time remove the key for a min then start the car if possible but on a battery charger if the battery goes died during the relearn you will need to start over

I have a new key cut and the security comes on. What can I do?

If your old key has a chip in it,then the dealer ship will have to code it.If not,try relearning the key to the ignition, turn the key on,leave it on 10 minutes, then turn it off,and right back on,do this three times,a total of thirty minutes,if this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you.

how do i reset theft system on a cavalier 1998

well it has passlock two and this is common with these cars. never seen the other issue to accompany it but if you do a relearn of the key and it starts then it could be two different issue's but if it don't work then they are related.

a relearn of the key is done with the ebrake up to keep the day time running lights off ( not an issue for you) but do it anyway. put key in the ignition and turn it to the on postion right before crank for 10 sec. turn it off for 10 sec. then turn it back on for 10 mins. repeat two more times back off for 10 sec. and then back on for 10 mins. it is cruishle you try to keep with in the times or very close. 10 seconds and 10 minuites three times and that will relearn the key and if it starts then you may have two issue's but hard to tell with out testing. but i think this is the best thing you can do for now.

i have a customer that can't afford the passlock module and labor so i taught her this and she is better then me now at it. lol... but like i said very common issue. let me know if you have any more question. good luck
