I have a 99 lumina, if going up hills of around a curve it will studder like an tranny issue. Only happens at speeds between 35 to 45 mph & accelerating slowly. If I give it a little more gas it quits. It is also intermittant in the fact it will do it for a week or two & then be fine for a two or three weeks.

sounds like u may be having a problem with the transmission....it shouldnt take a car that long to climb a hill thru lack of power with a transmission in good shape...i would suggest changing the tranny fluid and filter...sometimes they can get clogged and real dirty, causing metal shavings to get in between gears and engage in a rough or slow movement of the car....u can also have the transmission flushed at a shop, itll cost about 100 bucks but sometimes after alot of miles on a tranny it helps to flush all of the old out and start fresh....i always go the simple and affordable way first, which would be a new filter and new fluid....u can get a kit at ur local auto part store for around 20 bucks and do it urself at home....its just an idea but its what i would do if it were me and need to save money....hope this helps and good luck fixing ur issue
You have a gas pedal your suppose to use that to drive.cruise control is designed to be used at highway speeds for longtrips. Do not use in bad weather like rain or snow. Your using it for steep hills and may have other issues going on causing the power loss. May need a tuneup and check hoses under the hood for damage
YOU HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP ISSUE, HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THE DEALER,AUTO ZONE OR IF YOU ARE HANDY CHECK FOR CODES, NO CODES....THEN TAKE THE CAR OUT STEADY DRIVE AT AROUND 45 MPH, GENTLY HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON BUT NOT HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR...DO YOU FEEL THE CONVERTER SHIFT IN AND OUT EACHJ TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOUCHED MAINTAINING A STEADY 45 MPH SPEED, IF IT THAT SAME SHUDDER YOU ARE FEELING THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, NOT AN EASY JOB AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET AT IT.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.......
You may need to give the MAF a small shot of carb cleaner across the inside air flow vane. The small wire like elements sometimes get dirty and cleaning them will do wonders.
the CV joint in one of the front axles could have let go. if you had a clicking noise while turning prior to the incident.that could be your problem. A way see if the axle is the problem, grab the axles (with the car in neutral with the parking break set) and try to turn them by hand.(one at a time). they should not turn or wiggle around alot. If one or both dose that is your problem.
I have the same exact problem that just started immediately AFTER I got a tranny service where they changed the Trans Fluid, Trans Filter, Fuel Filter. Took it back and they say nothing is wrong with it. Took it to the dealer thinking I could get some REAL answers... they just told me to replace spark plugs, wiring & coil, for $900. Only studders when quickly accelerating above 40mph. I've check other forums, they say to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor. Haven't tried it yet. This seems the easiest before replacing spark plugs. Any other suggestions anyone?? Please.....
If you have the push button on the dash it is called an e40d tranny and if you do not have the button it is called and AODE tranny. Usually you should not see an increase in RPM's unless you are doing over 70 mph. At around 45 you will problem not see an RPM increase. As for the shudder when going up a hill it sounds like it is having issues going into overdrive could be a shift solenoid. Try having the tranny flushed and filter changed and see if this helps it out.
