Changing spark plug wires on 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee
Just changed the spark plugs on my 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee limited edition, realized the wires were not the traditional wires but ''coil on plug boots'' can any one explain how to change?
Re: Changing spark plug wires on 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee
Yah direct ignition coil pack does away for the need a a distributer cap and rotor.much higher energy ignition system where the computer tell when to fire.if that helps.not hard to change.as long as you change them one at a time so you don't screw up the order.

and this book helped me repair it within an hour, all by myself!!!! It's amazing, no hassle at all
From wiring diagrams, schematic illu strations, spark plugs info, parts info, stepwise instructions, torque specs, error/fault codes, engine info, to every single minute parts, you get everythingg in there you can't imagine how detailed it is
Since you have already changed the plugs I would check the wires, have the camshaft position and knock sensors tested and then take a look at the injector system.I would take it to you local mechanic to test the sensors since there all tested differently. Also you could try changing the distributor cap and rotor they might have a crack.
On the 4.7 V8 engine, each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil. Prior to removing spark plug, spry compressed air around base of ignition coil at cylinder head. This well help prevent fireing material from combustion chmber.
If you haven't changed the plugs or had the fuel system cleaned, now would be a good time to do it. The number 1 culprit for rough idles is dirty injectors or plugs. You can try an injector cleaner in a can (or bottle) for under $10 and see if it helps, and then work from there. If there isn't any improvement then if you are able to, check the plugs for any gunky buildup and if you find a bad plug, make sure you replace them all (or have them replaced) at the same time.
I own a 2004 jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V-8 It took me 3 1/2 hours to complete changing the spark plugs. First one must remove the cover from the air filter and to the carbuetor there are two bolts on each side of the cover over the engine then the driver side is easy to remove the boots on each plug the passenger side is pretty easy except for the last plug all the way on the back this one took me 1/2 to remove because there is lots of obstructions like the power steering line and the oil line and electrical cables.
