The only component I know of, that shuts a Jeep off while idling or driving 40mph down the road, is a bad crank sensor. Usually when it starts going bad, it will sporadically shut off, like yours does. Eventually, it will just die and the Jeep will not start at all. Have it tested and replaced, if necessary.
Does the starter spin the engine or not? If not, the starter or starter relay may be faulty. If the engine spins but doesn't start then it may be one of a number of defective parts preventing the engine from starting.
Hi Debbie, Have the brakes seen to before even moving the vehicle. Could be a broken hose or a leakage from the brake caliper. Whichever the vehicle should not be driven until the problem has been sorted out. Regards John
If it is a factory alarm you can't unhook it. Replace the switch attached to the lock cylinder inside the door. In the meantime, the switch on the passenger door may still be good. Cycle the key in the passenger door to see if it turns off the alarm.
