Depends which brown wire, for what, but if no part is broken, just the small metal wire end, soldering should do the work. IMHO $280 is madness. Here f. ex. Unitrade, the official VW dealer asks say 1500EUR to replace a part, which you can get replaced with a second-hand one for 150EUR at most other places, even w/o looking for the lowest price. And smtms second-hand parts are to prefer, new ones usually s*x at quality.

You can get an electrician (or yourself) to cut the wire and the opposite one it used to connect to, and join them together in a seperate terminal such as a crimp, or a piece of terminal strip from a hardware store.

Its a $1 dollar fix, just make sure if you do it yourself, that you get the right 2 wires, that they are stripped at the end properly, there are no strands sticking out when you finish, and that you tape up the joint to prevent it shorting out on the body and causing further problems.

How do you unhook the horn? it keeps going off

Find the culprit and just pull the wire off the metal male tab. It just pushes on with a female spade connector on the end of the wire. If it doesn't have the spade connector, just cut the wire in a place where you can re-connect with an inline connector crimped on.

I'm replacing the starter on my 2002 ford focus. the new starter came equiped with an addition "pig tail" on one of the posts which is supposed to solve a "no start problem" with older...

The pigtail should be mounted to the smaller stud on the starter solenoid.

The other end should have a but connector and there should be a peice of heat shrink tubing also supplied. You will cut off the connector on the small wire that went to the spade terminal on the old starter. then crimp that wire to the new pig tail and then place the heat shrink tubing over the connection.

This will solve the problem with the spade connector corroding at the starter which causes many no crank problems with ford vehicles. Especially the older Taurus.

Vw camper T2 bay ignition problem

Please re-post your question as it sounds like you are talking about the later vanagon and not the bay-window type 2 since the bay-window units did not have fancy idle control and stabilizer units.

How do I change the heater fan speed control in a Jeep Liberty (2006)? Speeds 1-2 and 3 don't work, only 4 does.

On the back of the control panel there is a plastic connector that plugs into the fan speed control. You can unplug it and use a meter to find incoming (hotwire) take a jumper or a 6 inch peice of wire and insert it into the spade where the hot wire is wired to. Take the other end of the wire and insert it into the 1st spade in the plastic connector next to the hot wire spade this will let you know that the fan will run at the selected speed. Then pull the test wire out and plug it into the next spade and so on and so on. I am sure your fan will respond step by step , fan speed 1 then 2 and then 3. After you make this test you will know that your fan is ok. You will just have to replace the plastic connector with new spades in it. You should see some evidence of over heating on the old connector. It may be that you only need to unsnap the connector and then reconnet it and it will probably work fine. It has proberly just become partially unpluged. All the other info that I gave you early on was just to trouble shoot it. mike

Replacing the horn.

OK, here is a step by step guide to help you replace the horn at hand.

Step1 Locate the stock horn. It will be in the front under-hood area of the truck and may be under the battery or inside the area between the fender and the inner fender. Behind the grille is also a possible location for the stock horn.
Disconnect the power wire, which will be attached to a spade on the horn. If possible, remove the horn. The horn will be held in place with a small bolt. Step2 Purchase a replacement horn, either from the dealer or a universal aftermarket model from an automotive parts dealer. Step3 Install the horn in the original mount if a stock horn is the replacement choice. Reconnect the power wire. Step4 Mount a universal horn in the stock bracket if possible, or use a large self-tapping screw and mount in a convenient location using the bracket that is supplied with it. Step5 Connect the wire connector to the horn. In most cases the stock wire connector will simply plug on to the spade connection of the new horn. If it does not fit, cut off the original connector and replace it with a solderless female spade connector and plug that onto the horn terminal. If the horn has two terminals, the other is to be grounded to the car body using a self-tapping screw.

Please rate and god bless:)

I have a BMW 525 td I have had the engine replaced

Onb German cars, brown wires are grounds. You are right, you need a wiring schematic to see where that wire is supposed to go.

Suscribe to alldata .com, for about 12 bucks or so you can get your car enroled for the year and it will include wiring diagrams.

What does not work in the car? This might give you a clue to what that ground wire is about. Note that if a componenet is looking for a ground, you will have battery voltage in that wire.

Loook nharder for where that spade connector goes also

good luck
