Unlocking the front drivers door usually unlocks the fuel filler cap. With the front door unlocked, push the side of the fuel filler door in and it will open.
I think that you will find it in the trunk beneath the tray on the right side. If it is not there, it is beneath the rear seat. Just pull up on the rear seat bottom to snap it up.
The most common issue is the final stage (electronic resistor) but if this has been replaced its probably the fan motor. Try giving the fan motor a knock. They sometimes get stuck brushes
that is the roller switch on the dash they are common for fault you will need to unscrew the trim around it to get to the back or it and push it out. they are not alot to bye new from bmw. hope this helps
