The wipers are parking in the middle because the timing mechanism is off. Once they start doing this it seems to continue to happen so the 1st suggestion is to replace the wiper motor. If U don't want to spend the $ right now it's a pretty easy fix to reset the timing. Park the wipers & remove the wiper arms. Then remove the plastic cowling that covers the wiper motor & the motor assembly. Turn the wiper assembly over without turning the motor. Remove the nut on the arm of the motor. Repostion the arm pointing away from the closet wiper directly inline with the short arm. reassemble.
Its likely a fuse or relay.. Find the locations in your manual..
Have a great day !
2000 Saturn LS, windshield wipers park in the middle of the windshield. How can I fix this?
Just grab wiper arm and hold it for a second or two while you turn on wipers. try this a few times to realign wiper arm timing. the shaft of the motor has a nut that often gets loose. just open cowl under the hood and tighten the nut

I had the same problem in my LW200. As the other poster indicated a new wiper motor will do the trick. This is an easy fix. Remove the wiper arms, pry up the plastic center cap and remove the nuts holding the arms down then pull them off. A soft prying nudge from underneath will help as they are splined shafts. Raise the hood, put a large deep well socket on over the splined shafts and remove the 2 large nuts holding the trim panel on. Pull up and off the long rubber which runs along the front of the trim panel, watch there is a sharp edge underneath. Now you can gently pull off the trim panel, remembering to lift it over the splined shafts. Mechanism is right there, remove 3 screws and unplug wiring. Take wiper motor off the linkage swap with a new one at advance auto, about 100 bucks, reinstall in reverse order. Note there is a stamping on the linkage telling you where the pivot arm should be for the rest or stopped position and if you ignore that your wipers will be out of whack. While you are in there you may want to change the cabin air filter as well.
