Look above your brake pedal and you will see your brake switch up along your brake pedal arm. It will either be between the brake arm and the firewall so when you brake it pushes the switch in. Or it will be between the dash and the brake arm so when you brake it pulls the switch out. This switch has most likely failed and will need to be replaced. Should be a $10-$20 part

How do i change the rear brake light in a toyota corolla 2003

  • Pop the trunk.
  • Look at the backside of the tail light area – it’s wide open. Turn the affected light bulb socket to the left. It’ll take some force, but you won’t break it.
  • Once it unlocks, you can pull the light bulb out.
  • Push the new bulb in.
  • Put the socket back into its place by pushing it in, then turning to the right. It’ll lock back into place.
  • Test the brake light to make sure it works.

2003 Toyota Corolla turn signals & emergency flashers do not work

Could be a bad relay switch contact. Or bulb contacts. Remove the bulbs and check it with a 12V test light. Aligator clip to any ground and touch the contacts inside the bulb socket.
