Hi there:The Restraints Control Module (RCM / located behind right side of the instrument panel) monitors the resistance of the driver side air bag circuit loop and the air bag module igniter at RCM, if the resistance is greater than 3.6 ohms, the RCM will store diagnostic trouble code B1994 and flash lamp fault code. About the possible causes, pay attention that a high resistance on the driver side air bag circuit can be caused by:
- damaged wiring on circuit 1257 (WH/LB).
- damaged wiring on circuit 1258 (BN/LB)
- damaged driver side air bag module.
- damaged RCM.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
Hello, with the air bag light being, this indicates a problem with the system. the air bags may not work correctly until this has been repaired. there are several things that can cause this to happen. the first thing that needs to be done, is the air bag system will have to be scanned for trouble codes. once a trouble code has been pulled from the system, then a repair can be made
you need to takee into a certified mechanic , if you mess with the air bag system and it deploys no one will work on it . the cost to replace your airbag system could be easily 2500.00
The passenger side airbag is a lot easier then driver side. Take the glove box out and you will see two 10mm bolts holding it in place. When you open the passenger side front door, remove the panel on the side of the dash and you will see yellow connectors. The 1 closest to the front is attached to the air bag, it is clipped into the frame. Just pull it loose and take it out and your done. For the Driver side, it takes a skinny T27 to remove the two star bolts, then just disconnect the horn red clip and ground and install new airbag. The module is located under the passenger seat, underneath the carpet. Kinda stupid but thats where its at. You also need to replace the front impact sensor located behind the grille on the back side of the metal bar to each side. Follow the hood latch down. Also just to make sure, you know to disconnect the battery before you do all this. You don't want new airbags to accidentally deploy.
The air bag module is located below the center of the dash in front of the center console mounted to the floor.Be sure to disconnect the batt. before removing and not to drop or bang the module.Good luck!John.
The module is under the passenger side seat, under the carpet. You will have to remove the seat to access it easier.Lift up the carpet and it will be mounted to the floor.
