SOURCE: 1999 suzuki grand vitara will

If jumping the car off starts it and it will keep running, then you have a bad battery and need to replace it. If it starts the car and it shuts off again, you need to replace your alternator.

As for the oil situation, make sure there isn't an oil leak. And it isn't likely that there's an oil sensor.

Oil light on dash stays on oil up to mark on dipstick

This means you have bad oil presure or your oil sensor has gone bad. Start with checking the sensor on the engine. If bad replace. Other wise you need to check the oil sending unit and the oil pump to see if they have gone bad.

Oil light comes on at certain times

First, check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is low, add the required amount of approved motor oil. If the level is correct and the light still comes on, there may be other issues.

Loss of oil pressure in a dodge 2500 with a V10 gas motor

Have your mechanic check the oil pressure with a pressure guage. A oil pressure sensor is the most possible cause, but please make sure of proper oil pressure to avoid engine damage.
