If you live near an AutoZone they used to offer free check engine light diagnostics.
See what code they can retreive from the computer with their device and check it against the list of codes. It may not just be a missing Gas cap code. There are hundreds of codes computers can return.

Best Wishes.

SOURCE: 1995 Honda Accord 4 Cyl Auto does not start.

these hondas have 3 common problems with no start if the car spins over but dosen't start you have 3 things to look at

  1. Ignition Switch
  2. The Distributor
  3. The PGMFI Relay.
Check these three things and get back to us.

Testimonial: "It was the PGFMI Relay. Took it out and inserted it back and the car started. It was probably stuck and has been running fine ever since. Thank you."

I like to make sure the timing belt is not skipped or broken by watching the cam turn inside the valve cover. Then I lay a spare spark plug on valve cover connected to any plug wire to see if it sparks. Fuel can be confirmed by smelling the exhaust, or by using starting fluid . These cars are famous for a coil relay solder break problem. The relay is heat expansion damaged, its mounted high up in the dash drivers side corner it is about 3" square gray.

2003 honda accord lx cranks but wont start new battery starter fuel pump son drove it about a mile then drove home next day cranks but wont start

You must perform an engine control module fault code test as well as test the fuel pressure, if no codes are present and fuel pressure is ok check for a defective camshaft drive belt.

Ignition on ok,push switch starter, starts ok on one push, butafter some drive you stop the car.To restart the car it drags to start, almost failing, then picks up.What could be the problem?

Check the fuel lines and then the carburetor. Get the services of a good engine mechanic familiar with Honda Accord to overhaul and clean your carburetor. However, if you know how, you may go ahead and do it. Pay attention to the fuel jet nozzles controlling the idle and
running speed of your engine. You may send in your comments via e mail for further assistance.

Won't start. Runs terrible. changed plugs, wires, fuel pump, coil. plugs smelled of gas and were blackened.

Not terribly familliar with honda cars but most systems use either a cold start injector or just richen up mixture through the normal fuel system. This is controlled by a temperature sensor, either separate from or part of dash gauge sensor. I'd begin looking for that. If its always in "cold start" if will give you symptoms like yours. If not fuel injected, check choke operation. This may not be a "cure" but it's a good place to begin looking!

did you put REAL HONDA parts or aftermarket parts.....i bet you put aftermarket parts in it...Hondas and Toyotas are very sensitive about ignition parts...ONLY get the real deal....NO aftermarket junk. i did the same mistake with my 89 honda accord. never again...

2000 accord no fuel pressure

there is no pump in the tank to pressurise the fuel. it is all pulled by vaccum. i would guess it is sucking air somewhere or you didn't clean the high pressure lines correctly and it is leaking fuel into the crankcase. also you shouldn't reseal the injector sleeves, they should be replaced and lock tight put on the tips when reinstalled
