Is the heater / A/C system manual or automatic ? It doesn't really matter , both systems have a blower motor control module , not a resistor .

The 96 LeSabre Custom and LeSabre Limited use an electronic module in place of a blower resistor.
It is under the hood on the firewall on top of the heater plenum, but below the relay rack.
They tend to short and run on high until the module burns out and then it quits.
The same part is used on many high-end GM cars from 92 to 96. The electronic module has two connectors on it. (If yours has only one plug it is a real resistor pack and not electronic.)

The resistor is located on the blower housing on the firewall under the hood under the relay center boxes.
