It is located on the drivers side under the hood.You must reome the ajr cleaner assembly and it is mounted on the transmission.There are 2 alike sensors next to each other 1 is input and the other is output,the input is closer to the engine.Craig

If I remember right when our 1999 Grand Voyager did this there were 2 speed sensors on the tranny and I replaced both at the same time.

Both the transmission input speed sensor and output speed sensor are located on the front of your transmission, below the battery. You may have to remove your air cleaner assembly to get a good look at them.

This same thing happened to my daughter,s car, and it ended up being fixed with a transmission speed sensor. This sensor not only runs the speedometer, it helps tell the transmission when to shift too.

the speed sensor may be bad, its located on top/back of trany, unplug connector and remove bolt and then it pulls right out, hope this helps.

Voyager transmission problem

I had the same problem in my 1999 plymouth voyager. Changed both speed sensors it started shifting perfectly.. Now i get a little thump when downshifting from 2nd to first when stoping change the sensors there only about 20 dollars each its 2 of them on the front of transmission..
