2002 Chevy Tahoe sputters like it's not getting gas and stalls out while driving. usually starts back up after a few min. mostly only does this when it's hot out

Any recent engine repairs ? Trouble codes ?

Fuel pump

Have a mechanic check the wiring to the fuel pump and test the fuel pump itself and also test the ECM and COILS

run the fault codes and look for a venting problem with the canister.

try some fuel additive that removes water and cleans injectors

.idle air control valve,any codes

1st move is to ck the fuel PSI & emissions. Possible cooling system cause.Scan computer & check sensor readings & the emissions readings are the first moves. Check spark plugs, ignition spark etc. Good luck

It sounds like the catalytic converter could possibly be almost completely plugged up not allowing the exhaust to leave the engine like it should. It just builds up in the cylinder head and when it gets too much in it built up and there's no where to go, it'll stall the engine. By letting it sit for a few minutes, it gives the exhaust time to find a way out and the car will restart.

i would first try to replace the fuel filter.usually there filter accumalates debris in the gas tank especially if you you ru the tank close to empty.filter location needs to be traced from the tank toward the motor.you will see a cylinder inline with a strap.part usually runs around 20.00. also when you initally turn the key before start you will hear a hum for about 2 sec. this is the fuel pump pushing the fuel up to motor.so if you hear this pump is working.

Fuel filter. Timing/timing chain. Idle air control valve. Idle sensor. Vacuum leak. Probably one of the above, but the filter is cheapest place to start. Change your air filter too, if you haven't for a while.
